Bottle from the Rugby Tap. Looks very nice in the glass, much darker than other traditional Oktoberfest’s. Grassy, caramel, toasted aromas. Taste is biscuity, caramel, grassy, bit of toffee in there. Slightly sweet finish. Decent.

A quite dark, yellow with light brown notes. A blond head is quite big but decreasing. Aroma has strong maltyness, some grass, not so fresh as should be. Taste has sweet maltyness, some bitterness but that’s not drying the mouth enough, some grass. Medium bodied, smooth, nice carbonation. Easy to drink as this is brewed. Nothing special but the glass is quickly empty.

Bready, caramel malty aroma with a surpringly boozy nose (although it’s currently room temp). Subtle banana hints. Lovely, actually quite unusual colour of clear rust. Flavour is sweet,, smooth caramel with an overarching bready flavour and a slight sharpness from the alcohol. Whilst the beer is sweet, the breadiness gives a very savoury impression. A really nice example of the style, only criticism is the lack of masking of the alcohol flavours.

Weak Sweet malt aroma and a clear dark gold body. Flavour is a slightly vegetable sweet malt mix. Not especially amazing.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2015 0,5l Bügelflasche. Enttäuschendes Aroma, kaum Duft. Vielleicht Getreide und Karamell. Sehr schöne klare Bernsteinfarbe. Fester Schaum. Malzig Hopfiger Geschmack mit Waldhonignoten. Vollmundig und doch süffig. Brotgeschmack im Abgang.

Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours dark bronze with a little white head, a bit dark for a märzen. The aroma features hayish, bready maltiness with some herbs and a touch of grass - malty, but also subtly hoppy. Taste is light sweet, fairly rich in pale malty flavours. Dries toward finish but only lightly, low in hoppiness. The palate is medium-bodied, slick and smooth. Malty, fairly full-bodied märzen.

(500ml swing top ) In a pint jug . I have drank this several tims , but neglected to rate it . This is an easy to chug, drink, swill Marzen - that has that grimy slightly gritty texture you get in dark lagers, kinda industrial . Good fest beer either way ! Nose of brown sugar , pie crust , apple ester , syrupy caramel , hay . It looks like a Germanic dark lager ! It dranks pretty well, serviceable ... A pass out after giant pint steins kinda sensibility !
