Bottle as "Original Oktoberfest". Pours a clear copper-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, caramel and hops. Light to medium body with flavors of toasted malt, grassy hops and caramel. The finish is sweet with a bready malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft at landmark. Pours clear amber with a medium sized white head. The aroma is classic toasted malt with a side of biscuit. The taste is bready, sweet, easy to drink. Classic for the style.

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co. as a 17 oz. serving dispensed to a tall, HB lager glass, showing a clear, coppery amber color, with a very persistent layer of billowy, soft white foam, and wavy cling to the lacing. The nose was light grain, soft malt, some toastiness, a touch of sweetness, maybe a slight hint of fruit, but no noticeable caramel, which is inappropriate for the style anyway. Light to medium bodied, with decent carbonation, a low hop bitterness, and clean finish. Of all the Marzens that I’ve sampled this season, this is one of the lighter versions of the style, but no less quaffable, and very sessionable.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at flying saucer Columbia. Copper pour with a sudsy head. Faint malty aroma. Definitely heavy on the caramel malts which is expected and its frikkin delectable. Had to get this seeing as its the only German marzen on tap, and it didn’t disappoint.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: OCT 6, 2014 Nice dark amber colour with clear liquid. Hasty off-white head. Malty sweetness with hints of honey and rock candy. Medium body, soft carbonation. Short bitter finish. Abolutely enjoyable but I would have liked the aroma to be a bit more intense.

Live rating: 500ml bottle from Glug, Grainger Market Newcastle. Served cellar cool in an oversize lager glass. Pours the colour of eucalyptus honey with an off-white head that settles to a skim. Brown bread, honey and farmyard aroma. Chewy caramel malt flavour, with nuts and a hint of banana, offset by some hop greenery. Full bodied, smooth mouth feel, a little bitterness in the finish. Alcohol surprisingly assertive for a less-than-6.0% beer. Almost like a winter ale, very nice.

Bottle. Clear copper body with a small fizzy off-white head. The nose is sweet caramel and toasty malt, with a touch of graininess. The flavor is a little husky, a slight hoppiness on the finish. Light to medium bodied. Decent enough.
