SwedeDog (364), Windsor, Connecticut, USA Nov 7, 2004 Clear orange with a good thick head. Aroma is somewhat sweet (caramel, honey, malty), somewhat spicy and somewhat skunky. Spicy and malty. A little sweet (definately honey), and it’s got a bit of a bite to it. Definately hoppy, and a little bitter. Overall, it’s pretty good. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Nov 4, 2004 Almost a sweet honey brown sugary aroma on this one. Maybe a touch of roasted malts. Orangey-copper transparent color with an off-white head. Slightly sweet malty caramel notes with some toasty malts. This gets sweeter as it goes on. Not bad. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Oct 25, 2004 Sparkling light amber body with big off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, molasses, caramel, some toasty. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, molasses, light earthy, faint herbal. Finish has very mild bitterness. Light-medium body with a hint of stickiness. Ok, but a bit too sweet to me. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Oct 20, 2004 Poured amber/orange with a medium white head. Spicy, malty aroma. Taste is maltier than other oktoberfests I have with pumpkin spice and a slight hint of hops. Very drinkable and smooth. Jedsbrew (465), Rhineland, Missouri, USA Oct 18, 2004 Amber colored with a small head and light carbonation. Delightful aroma-barley, bread, caramel, slightly toasty. Medium bodied, round, sweet caramel malty flavor with a good underlying hoppiness, slightly fruity with plum and toffee notes. Medium finish, dryish, refined, a superb Ofest. matta (1137), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 18, 2004 I had this last night on Draft at a Octoberfest party. Unfortunately I had to drink it out a plastic cup but really didn’t mind because it was free and pretty damn tasty!
Poured a nice shadowy amber body and a cream colored head. The senses noted sweet suggestions of somewhat smoky molasses, plums, apricots raisins, but mostly notes of toffee and caramel. Truly picked up on a large dose of brown sugar… A very drinkable Marzen. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Oct 17, 2004 got this as sample in a beer store in ct. brown color. raisiny nose. watery, nutmeg flavor. thank goodness it was free Baroque1977 (25), Southeastern, Massachusetts, USA Oct 15, 2004 Very well done. Malts and hops are in a very good balance. Nice body... not at all watery or metallic like Spaten.
