Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Oct 14, 2004 Amber color, with a lacey, tannish head. Highly aromatic : spicy, cloves, cinnamon, herbal. Malty, but not overmuch. Some sweetness, but, again, just enough. Delicate hop, solid body, slight sharpness and a coppery edge in the mouthfeel. Very delicious.
goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Oct 13, 2004 Amber color with a long lasting medium white head. Clear. Lots of lacing. Malty aroma. Not too sweet. Some caramel flavor. Malty but again not sweet. Medium body. crisp nice Silphium (2117), Haslett, Michigan, USA Oct 11, 2004 Clear amber body, medium clumping off-white head. Spicy hops aroma with faint metallic notes. Malty, toasty body with caramel and earthy hops; metallic and biscuity finish. Clean mouthfeel. One of the better Oktoberfests I’ve sampled of late. JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Oct 10, 2004 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Light amber coloured with a moderate sized off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with some caramel and perhaps a bit of fruit. Nice taste; sweet, malty and a bitter hop finish. Smooth, medium bodied and moderately carbonated. Good beer. mstockton (186), Rochester, Michigan, USA Oct 9, 2004 Pretty good and not quite as malty as some of the other Oktoberfest brews that I have tried. Drinkable and decent, but not a favorite of mine. Go for the wheat beer. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 9, 2004 I want to give it a great rating... But the hefe weiss is SO much better. I got a lot of this for a good price to boot during Oktoberfest, but it’s really just a golden, foamy pedestrian beer. A real shame! guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Oct 5, 2004 Dark copper with virtually no head. Aroma was dominated by roasted caramel malts typical for this style, but there was also some fruitiness to add some diversity. Smooth palate with modest carbonation and a toasty, slighly sweet, taste. Just enough hops to notice that they are there. DrnkMcDermott (1832), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Oct 4, 2004 Bottled. Good dark color for a modern German Okto. A little bit lighter in malt character, but it more than makes up for it in a nice hoppy nose. There are some melanoidins in the bigger malt bill, and a little sourness. Also note a bit of hard water which helps bring out the hops.
