Very well done. Malts and hops are in a very good balance. Nice body... not at all watery or metallic like Spaten.

Crisp, clean, refreshing...not much else. Light grainy and cereal malts with a hint of grass and metallic hops. Sweet and lightly honeyed middle with mild dryness on the finish. Overall, quite bland.

Bottle, bought @ Reading Beer Festival. Opens with a gentle fission. Pours clear dark amber. Gentle aroma from the hops. Flavour is deep caramel, light almost cherry fruits. Marzipan? Low bitterness, followed by lingering faint sweetness with slight bitterness. Lovely beer.

Oktoberfest beer in May? Yes Please! Pretty darn good Marzen - Lovely amber with pillowy head. Faint toffee nose. Full, slightly chewy - malt driven. Toffee, bread and soft bitter finish. Well rounded.

500 mL bottle into a pint glass at Reading Beer Festival 2012. Copper, clear and flat. Nice aroma. Fresh, a touch oakey, very drinkable, bitter, hint of malt.

Nov 2009: Brown flip-top bottle containing 0.5 litres of Marzen. Poured into a pint sized vase shaped glass (Old Speckled Hen branded). Lovely copper body with an off-white head on top. Caramel and toffee esters in the aroma, but it isn’t a sweet smelling beer by any means. Malted biscuits come in to play as the beer warmed a little. Toffee again in the taste, a lot going on though, some cereal flavours are also present, then hazel nuts came to mind as I sipped my way down the glass. So hazel nuts dipped in a semi-sweet toffee mix liquified and then fermented with some yeast, hops and malts is what I’ve come up with to describe this beer! A warmth, depth, and richness just exude from this beer, very, very drinkable indeed.

Originally reviewed: 10/25/10. This one was at the top of my list of Festbiers to try this fall. 12oz bottle poured into a mug. Pours a transparent dark ferric rusty color. A small off-white head rests atop. No lace. Scents of bread, caramel, and light minerals. The mouth is moderately full. Good carbonation. Refreshingly wet. Excellent bounty of sweet malts and fresh bread. This beer nails the Festbier flavor dead on. Hints of caramel, toffee, and just a wisp of bitterness. I could drink this all day, or month for that matter. This’ll be the one I stock my fridge with every autumn from here on out. Great beer.

Beautiful copper tone. Smooth and roasted chest nutty with low carbonation and a nice finish. Small head. Sweet at first and lasting grainy finish. Extra point for the swing top lid.
