Sparkling light amber body with big off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, molasses, caramel, some toasty. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, molasses, light earthy, faint herbal. Finish has very mild bitterness. Light-medium body with a hint of stickiness. Ok, but a bit too sweet to me.

Pours a lovely copper with a fine, staying, creamy, white head. Aroma has rye bread, sweet malts, soft grass. Medium carbonation, fine dryish and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is quite sweet, caramel, still some rye bread, chewy malts. Lingering mild bitter grassy finish.

Bottled, swing top, 500ml from Westholme Stores, Goring on Thames, Oxon. Copper with white head. I really quite enjoyed this marzen, fruity full bodied, soft and pulpy in character, some caramel without getting dry, a little sweetish, but not much in the way of hops. Quite reasonable.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2007 Swing top bottle. Bought at De Man van Drank Leiden. One month past best before date. Amber color, dense head. Pear and just a touch of dust in the aroma. Malty but vinous beer. Raisin and hops in the background, even a touch of cinnamon. Butterscotch and some bitterness in the aftertaste. (6 3 6 2 11 = 2.8) A fresh sample bought in Nordhorn was much better. Loads of malt and toffee in the aroma. Medium to full bodied. malty sweet flavor, bready, cake, pear. Grassy hopbitterness in the aftertaste. Lovely well balanced beer.

500ml bottle (BeerAngel) - stolen off Jarkko at work - thanks!
Rich reddy brown, healthy head. At first a slightly plasticky aroma, but as it warms the malts fill out, and it becomes quite grainy eventually. Pleasant carbonation, refreshing palate. Taste initially a bit metallic. As it warms, again, the softer malts come through and it’s a pleasantly husky graininess that you’re left with. Half a litre disappeared very quickly.
