Draft at a German restaurant, served cold on a cold January day (which probably was not the best way to have it). Pleasant, grainy flavor - a good beer.

Another Oktoberfest that is nothing special. This is drinkable, and it gets me drunk, but that's about the end of it's redeeming qualities.

Tap at Rhino, served in HS dimpled mug. Sweet, fine creamy serve, not too chilled - perfect. Unusual grapey & cola/sasparilla rootsy flavors - rolls over the palate kind of fruity with a spice note, insanely quaffable and surprisingly tasty. Well worth the diversion.

Pours clear darkish golden with a small white head. Malty caramel aroma with also some grain and flowery hops. the flavour is quite similar, with caramel, grain and flowery hops running the show. The bitterness is quite high for the style, and the finish is grainy and medium length.

Clear, deep amber/orange. Thin head and lace. Big caramelized malty nose. Hallertau’s are evident. Full bodied, decent malty palate with hints of caramel, faint yeast hints and maybe chocolate. Nice spicy hoppiness but the backend seems very bland, almost watery but at the sametime the beer holds some nice flavors. The full body must really enhance things here. Tasty but nothing too special.

Pours a nice clear light amber with a thin white head. Aroma was a little sweet, a little malty with some light hop notes. Flavor was similar. Easy drinker, nothing spectacular.

Yum, in a style that is often messed up in the states this german original gets it right. Quaffable and appetizing, get me a liter, please.

Tap @ House of Brews, NYC. Pours that wonderful deep copper color with a nice off-white head. Aroma is roasted malt with bready notes and sweet characteristics as well. Taste is bready and wheat notes up front, dissolving into a wonderful malty finish with roasted characteristics. This is much more malty than most Oktoberfest beers, but it works.
