Bottle from a Munich supermarket. Cloudy brown. It is a very true to type Bavarian Hefeweisse, dyed brown. There is nothing wrong with this. But I am getting bored.

Murky orange - amber beer, good white head. Palate is light and dry with good minerally carbonation. Tangy wheaty malts. Dry and slightly bitter florlaness. Sweetish banana streak. Light dry seltzer finish. Not bad.

Swingtop bottle into weizen glass. Pours a deep caramel color with very thick off white head that takes its sweet time dwindling. Aroma of clove, wheat, banana, and a myriad of spices. Taste is very similar and comes together extremely well. Wonderful beer.

Half litre bottle into weizen glass. Sweet wheat nose. Looks like caramel sauce with an enormous creamy head. Zingy on the tongue, flavour is bananas and cream. Finish is cloves, pepper and a distant bitterness. Superb.

Draft at Mecklenburg Gardens, served in a tall weisse glass. Pours a hazy, dull amber with a huge, frothy eggshell white head that laces the glass. Notes of bready and doughy malts, caramel, banana, clove, faint nuts, and fruity esters. Light-medium-bodied, with soft, frothy carbonation and a soft, doughy mouthfeel. Not bad. I’d order it again.

Deilig.

Bottle; pours cloudy amber with a beige head; aroma is predominantly bananas, wheat, and a little spice; taste light sweet with banana, wheat, caramel, and some spice in the finish; decent a bit thin and watery

AROMA: Smells like a Hefe, but different. Sweet banana almost over ripe. Hints of orange and other citrus. Some floral hops in the back ground. A lot of farm yard yeasty esters, hay?. Lots of ripe fruit. APPEARANCE: Beautiful deep amber color, somewhere between a Hefe and a Dunkle. White head that faded quicker than I expected. TASTE: This is like a complex Hefe. All the notes you would expect from a Hefe are there bu there is a depth to them. Bready, wheat character. Rich flavor, almost dough like, but with banana/citrus sweetness. Then the clove spiciness hits you hard in the nose at the finish. Really good. PALATE: Warming rich medium-full mouth feel. Creamy spite the heaver carbonation. Finish is long. OVERALL: I am a huge German wheat beer fan and this is one that I can get behind. It like the best of both worlds between a Hefe and a Dunkle. I don’t know if a Sternwessie is actually a beer style or one just came up with to describe this version of a Hefe but it is damn good.
