2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from a Munich supermarket.
Cloudy brown. It is a very true to type Bavarian Hefeweisse, dyed brown. There is nothing wrong with this. But I am getting bored.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hacker-PSchorr Weizen is a really good hefeweizen and this is kind of like a lesser version of that, which is often the case w/ Dunkelweizens. It is a ruddy orange brown beer w/ a long lasting head of fine bubbles. It starts w/ a bit of banana on the nose and continues to some raisiny malt. Some sweetness and tartness once tasted gives this raisin note a bit of a vinous note along the lines of a port wine--albeit w/o any oxidized notes. This has a nice creamy palate appropriate to the style but is maybe just a touch too heavy to be really perfect. It finishes w/ some lingering sweet banana and bread yeast notes. This is a pretty tasty beer overall but I prefer my wheats lighter in texture, drier w/ a more vibrant yeast character.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This pours a semi-hazy, amber color with a thick, foamy beige head. The aroma is rich with wheat and citrus. The taste is smooth with a decent flavor and drinks quite nicely. Not overly complex, just a simple German weisse beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ home. Hazed orange-amber pour with a white head. Smells of banana and toasted bread. Slight apple and lemon peel. A bit of golden raisin and berry. Flavor is lightly tart and yeasty. A lot of bread and banana juice. Somewhat doughy. Heavy on the fruity esters.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle - Pours hazy copper with a big foamy off white head. Nose is a mix of mellow yeasty dough and sweet banana, A touch of clove and coriander, with a hint of citrus. Taste is sweet wheat cut with some doughy yeast and light breadiness. Mellow spiciness and a warming finish. Banana and overripe tropical fruit in the finish. A little boozy sharpness takes over through the finish. Okay, but a little unfocused.
