At brewery. Dark brown with red tint and a big brown head. The aroma is like a doppelbock, with big malty bread crust. Flavors are the same with a light palate, and an excellent herbal quality (caraway?) that works and adds complexity so it’s not just about the bread crust. I really dug this beer.

Dark red colour, disappearing head. Aroma has lots of rye bread and sweet malt. Flavour is sweet with rye bread, malt and hints of raisins. A bit thin, but good.

Burgundy-brown. Thick head. Somewhat light aroma but a hint of liquorice and nuts. Tastes like doppelbock lite, with liquorice, toffee and other watered-down versions of dark malts.

(bottle) Dark copper colour with a big fluffy but diminishing tanned head. Sweet malty roasted aroma with caramel and shy herbal hops. Slight sweet but dry roastmalty taste with caramel and a dry malty and hopbitter finish with notes of liquorice, medium bodied, almost crispy mouthfeel. Clean and round Dunkel.

Sugary malty aroma. Sweet flavor with malt, some licorice and cinnamon. Just below medium bodied.

(Bottled) Clear, cola color with large head. Sweetish, roasted-malty, quite full and sugary aroma. Sweet and malty, slightly roasted flavor. Almost Dark Kozel-like, but fuller in body. Medium-bodied, syrupy palate with sugary aftertaste and well-balanced carbonation. A nice, sweet and clean, easily drinkable dunkel.
