The beer for the 5. Season in Bavaria. Dark like a double Doppelbock must be and aromatically malty as it has always brewed. A enjoyable strong beer.

Draft at Monks. Dark brown pour. Impressive large foamy tan head. Fluffy chocolate caramel flavors. Tootsie Rolls. Not overly complex dopplebock but very drinkable.

500 ml bottle, thanks Timo A. Pours a dark mahogany colour with a white head. Aroma of berries, grass, caramel and straw. Flavour of caramel malts, berries, straw, bread and some chocolate notes. Medium bodied, soft carbonation and a sweet, malty, slightly berryish finish. Good.

Aroma is a bit light with berries, some malty notes. Flavour is rather malty with woody notes, some berries and hints of bread. Some malty sweetness, yet balanced. Nice, the berry notes get stronger towards the end of the glass though.

500 ml bottle. 339. BB 04/06/2013. From bierundbier.de.
At least there is some fun in naming the beers. This is the final leg of my Hacklberg journey today. Humorator sounds very promising. Clear dark amber colour with a small off-white head. Malt, and lots of it, mild chocolate, nuts, dryness and on the other hand some sweetness too in the aroma. The flavour is very malty (as you can expect from a Doppelbock). Mild bitterness, peanuts, mild bitterness and sweetness. I’m not 100% sure if I like this. I’m not huge fan of Doppelbocks (or Bocks in general) so this is quite challenging for me... The alcohol is quite well hidden that’s nice. Otherwise this is quite ordinary Doppelbock. That’s it.

On tap @ brauhaus schmidtz. Aroma of cookies, chocolate, slight clove/nutmeg with a decent molasses. Pours dark with a small white head. Taste is very sweet with a mince meat pie feel. Finishes with a biscuit. I love this one.

Dark amber pour with an off-white head. Some butter, a lot of prunes, and cola sweetness. There’s a bit of brown sugar, some raisin, and a mild roasted malt note. Hints of chocolate on the palate along with a ton of prunes and cola. A hint of raisin, some mild roast, and a toasted malt sweetness.
