Cask (handpump) @ Blue Blazer, 2 Spittal Street, Edinburgh EH3 9DX, Scotland.
Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, light light yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090409]

Cask (handpump) @ Cask and Barrel, 115 Broughton Street, Edinburgh EH1 3RZ, Scotland.
Clear medium to dark brown amber color with a average, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white / grey head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, roastedd, peat - coffee notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and coffee - peat bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090409]

Pours clear dark ruby with a small head. Aroma malts and some fruits. Well balanced and good bitter. Not Bad.

Cask at The Cask & Barrel Broughton St. Reddy brown with thin cream head. Light malt and lighter hops that really only present themselves in the fleeting bitterness. Watery and poor.

First tasted this at the Boswell Hotel in April 1991. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale garnet in colour with a creamy white head. Slight hint of malt in the thin aroma. Watery mouthfeel and good lacing. Weak pale malt base gives a mild digestive biscuit flavour with redcurrant fruit. Tannin note present in the bitter aftertaste. Finish is weak and watery. A poor effort and one to miss from the portfolio.

Pours clear orange colour with small head. Aroma of malts and light fruits. Flavour is the same. Balanced.

On cask at the Crown Posada, Newcastle. Pours a very dark amber colour with a thick beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and caramel. Flavours of caramel, chocolate, dark malts and barley. Foamy mouth-feel and a lingering barley flavour. OK.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2011 Cask as Broughton Street Ale @ Cask & Barrel, Edinburgh. Golden brown colour, good head. Sour vegetable malt aroma. Malty fag ash & apple flavour. Smooth with bitter aftertaste. Not great.

Cask @ GBBF 2010. Pours a clear copper color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty aroma with weak hints of dark fruit. Fruity malty caramel flavor with weak hoppy hints. Has a fruity malty caramel and dark fruity finish.

Cask as Broughton Street Ale at Cask and Barrel, Edinburgh. Very malty, sweet beer. Hop bitterness on the tongue, a bit harsh. Not too balanced, not too accomplished.

As Broughton Street Domestic Ale.
Cask @ Cask & Barrel. Amber colour, creamy off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, little fruity. Flavour is caramel malts, lots of biscuit. Mediocre.

From cask at Smithfield Hotel. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and rather malty. Bitter and crisp hoppy fruity. Bittter and bone dry.
