Cask conditioned at Far from the Madding Crowd, Oxford on the Ratebeerian day around Oxford 09-02-08 Poured mid/dark amber with malty aroma, bit of sweet caramel backed up by some nice fruitiness, quite tangy with some citrus coming through. Pretty good beer.

A Mes rate: Cask at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford during the RB pub crawl. Copper coloured with no head. Tea and malt and a non too pleasant sweetness. Really average at best.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Far From The Madding Crowd Oxford. A dark copper coloured beer with an off-white coloured head. The aroma is fruity sweet with caramel notes. The taste is fruity and there’s a hint of straw. Some smoky notes also and a good body. Quite wintery and it’s a surprise it’s just 3.9%

Cask handpull, Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford, RB Pub crawl 08. Tea flavoured, best bitter. Has a definite H&B flavour, which for me is a bit plasticky. Good roasty flavours which grow on you, but that initial plastic lowers the score.

Cask at Far from the Madding Crowd, Oxford, on Ratebeer Oxford Day ’08. Amber. Malt aroma. Delicious malty taste with fruit background, plus a flavour that SilkTork identified as tobacco, a substance that I have managed to resist since September 1st, 1992. Yes, this was my Top Beer of the Day, overall my sixth H&B, all rated between 3.1 and 3.7. A brewery to look out for.

Cask conditioned at far from the Madding Crowd, Oxford Ratebeerian day. Amber with white head. My beer of the day, hitting quite a few of the right notes, fuller bodied than many recent beers with a slightly darker roasted malt then a bitter sweetness from a flowery hop, a light citrus character behind all of this, i enjoyed it.

Aroma of toffee malts, with floural hops. Taste is similar but a burnt bitterness which doesnt seem cool.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Some cloudy bitter hop, but a little artificiality, and a nasty tang. Spoiled, though it seems it may be quality underneath.
