3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ungstrup (23975) - Oamaru, - JAN 14, 2004
A dark amber beer with a small fast disappearing head. The aroma is sweet with notes of prunes and raisins. The flavor is slightly sour with notes of lemon, cloves, and corriander. The finish is quite dry from a combination of corriander and hops.

Purchased at De Bier Koning in Amsterdam on 5-25-03. Bottled version. Cloudy brown with basically no head. Seems almost cider-like. Spice and thin malt in the nose. Sour hint as well. Sour apple in the taste that sort of reminds me of the Fantome Millenium I had. Add a splash of grapefruit in addition to the sour apple and spice. As it warms a bit, the spicy nose increases a little and includes a barnyard or litterbox hint, but the body becomes thinner and the taste almosts becomes thinner as well and a little more sour. The 8% is well hidden. Finishes dry with little to no aftertaste. Worth trying, but nothing spectacular.
2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 bierkoning (8109) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - APR 2, 2003
Beer gushes out of the bottle. Huge head that only slowly diminishes. Strong cinnamon aroma, vinegra, cherry and apple. Bitter, herbal, slightly acidic flavor with cinnamon. Unbalanced beer with major brewing faults.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JAN 21, 2003
Bottle conditioned. Hazy amber orange, visciously overcarbonated. I struggled to fit a 300ml bottle into a pint glass and had to wait for 30 minutes before the bottle was finally empty. Good Orval style hopsack aroma almost borderline lambic, but im not sure if that was what was intended. Malty and apple-tart with hints of spice in the mouth and a dry bitterness in the finish. Interesting and worth a second look, if only to see if they really meant it to taste the way it does.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - DEC 6, 2002
Apple and light lemon aroma and spices. Also a hint of plastic. Golden orange color, off-white head, fair lace. A spontaneous ejeculation from the bottle which made me spoil some beer! Very spicy beer, light citrus, alcohol presence, well hopped. Long lasting finish. Took me half a glass to get used to is because of the spices, but I started to like it to the end.
