4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had this at Cafe Brecht, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Monday 30th September 2013 So chuffed with this place it is a bloody great little cafe, with a small but well chosen beer list, in fact really well chosen and changing weekly as well I’m told. Soft, slightly prickly hoppiness in mouth, bloody lovely, only 55 IBU which is fairly modest these days but its just right. Soft squishy citrus nicely bittersweet finish is quite long slowly drying towards end. Little pithiness, its a really, really nice beer. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov17 4.1

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A spicy ,hoppy and incredibly drinkable 6% American Pale Ale. (I know the description says IPA, but it really tastes and looks more like an APA.) Kind of a German take on an Alpha King or something similar - though it is thinner, cloudier and yeastier than that classic. Overall a very nice beer I will look for again.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
0,33 l bottle. Pours hazy pale orange, mighty fine white head. Surprisingly more soft on the nose, no dominating grapefruit and hop, more earthy nearby eggs. Starts zippy bitter herb. Behind the wall of bitterness, pepper and hints of walnut. Later more citrus with a light sweetness. In my opinion too much of the hops side.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl bottle pours with a nearly clear deep gold body that supports a tall dirty white head of foam that leaves behind some sheet lacing. The modest aroma offers up some tart lemon and earthy malt sweetened lemon grass as well as faint candied tropical fruit. Decent. The taste has a quick hit of lemon tartness before fuller and rounder notes of mango, malt sweetened lemon grass and grapefruit take over. This has a thick malt sweetened citrusy and fruity hop flavor layers that get mowed over by a firm degree of citrus hop bitterness.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours light yellow with big white head. Aroma is grass and tropical fruits. Taste is very bitter and hoppy and seems to not be striving for balance on purpose. Ends on a vaguely sweet fruity note. Crisp mouthfeel and strongly carbonated. Decent IPA, I quite prefer it to their Comet IPA.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Bierzwerg!
Pours cloudy yellow with high, very fine, creamy white head. Smell has lots of citrussy hops, some grapefruit, tropical fruits and some spruce. Starts very fruity-hoppy, slight sweetish with lots of tropical fruit and some tart grapefruit and citrus. The middle part has still lots of grapefruit and tropical fruits, paired with some pine woods and a slight bready note. Goes into a fruity-tart finish with tropical fruits, some pineapple, hay and spruce. Great german IPA!!!

Bouteille 33cl courtesy of Tomaz. BB 28-9-2013.
Reste solide.
