3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2010 Bottle from the producer, with whom I spent some time while he described his work and his production. Many thanks!
According to the German trend, the bottle is corked with a synthetic cork.
The color is very pale, just a shade of yellow, but it has nice legs on the glass sides. Honey aroma, perfumy, flowery, strong, a bit soapy, beewax too. As promised, it’s a sweet Mead, very sweet, a bit syrupy; the honey flavor is well integrated, mature, with a light scent of pineapple and tropical fruits (and this is the best quality of this Mead). The alcohol is perfectly hidden. Very well made, flawless. Very good.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 75 cl, courtesy of fonefan. It’s a clear, pale yellow mead, still. A bit neutral and a bit alcoholic on the nose. Some honey notes. The flavor is more pronounced on the honey, with a touch of grains and some flowery notes. Slightly citrusy too, and sweet. Sort of dry on the palate, full-bodied and warming. Lasting honey sweet finish. Boring aroma, nice in the mouth, but I guess it would benefit from some cellaring. 110129

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Courtesy of fiulijn who gave me a good sized sample (thanks!), shared with heavy and TimE. Poured a really palle yellow body. The nose was... well... a big disappointment. Awful sourish vegetabley notes over a nice subdued light honey. The taste, however, puts the honeyish notes in front and integrates the vegetabley, even slightly meaty notes perfectly. The mouthfeel is wonderful and this would make for a very good mead if not for the all too pungent and bad (for me) aroma. The guy obviously knows what he’s doing and I look forward to trying more from this Imkerei one day!

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
1/10 A sample from a 2009 bottle thanks both Marko and fiulijn! It had pale yellow body with no legs. Propolis, honey and rapeseed oil aroma. Honey flavor, sweetish, quite pleasant, much better than initial thoughts as of the nose. Still, that oil is being felt, but not so terribly much as fruity notes are overwhelming it. Sticky on palate. Fine long, slightly warming finish. Quite pleasant, although don’t like that strange rapeseed oil note through it, especially from the beginning.
