Beer 13 of Bartzilla’s Death Metal Beer Tasting 6/30/07. Shared with Bartzilla, Naven, BikesandBeer and others. Via trade with Batkins. Bartzilla said it pretty damn well this is a fucking crazy beer. 1.5L bottle after a really sour batch 58 of regular Adam. Pours dark brown witha bubbly head. Aroma is sweet and strong. The taste is amazing and hard to describe. Bryan PH Pinhead said it "tastes like a tootsie roll soaked in Kahlua." This was so so so amazingly good, and really tastes stronger than 10% a big sipper and fucking great to share.

Aug 23, 2008 Tasted at Cleveland tasting on 8-23-08. Thanks!! Bottle poured black with no carbonation or head. Aroma was amazing. Roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, and brown sugar. Has a medium body. Very little alcohol presence, wood, bourbon, chocolate, caramel, toffee, and oak all come together to make this a world class brew. This is one of the best beers I have had and the only counts against it are the no carbonation and head. Otherwise, one of the best I’ve had.

Aug 14, 2008 RBSG ’08. Derek (DA) graciously opened this 1.5L beast for the Ratebeer Grand Tasting at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Thank you so much for this! I’ve wanted to try this elusive rarity for so long. The beer’s age is apparent, with a very still and slick pour that coats the snifter. Burgundy color, like brandy. Low carbonation, just a few beige bubbles on the surface. Nose is absolutely killer. Smacked with oak wood, musty cellar, bourbon and molasses; all of this wrapped up in caramel and brown sugar. Smooth and mellow profile; elegant flavors of toffee, leather and caramel, with more wood and a bit of a tobacco tone. Warming bourbon palate with a lasting barrel flavor. Medium bodied. I just love these big, saucy barrel-aged types. Wow!

Aug 11, 2008 1.5l bottle sampled at the 2008 RBSG. This ale pours a medium brown color from the bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is malt, caramel, wood, bourbon and brown sugar. A medium to full bodied ale. The malts are caramel, brown sugar and vanilla. The hops are earthy. Hides the alcohol very well. Hints of chocolate, dark fruit and oak. Nice balance. Very smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

Awesome stuff I have wanted for a long time, seeing a s I really love regularAdam; Nose of oaky vanilla, chcolate, and figs; Black with a very small beige head; Flavor of chocolate, raisins, figs, a little toffee, and oak! Finishes with a warming alcohol note.

Aug 7, 2008 From a 1.5L Bottle. Sampled at the RBSG tasting. Pours a muddied dark brown color, topped with a thin ring of wispy off-white head. Intense aroma, saturated with bourbon, brown sugar, and dark malt melanoidins. There’s an intense dark fruit character that comes through as slight oxidation in the form of figs, prunes, and rummy raisins. Hefty doses of oaky vanilla. Medium-full bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel. Flavors are excellent up front, bringing out notes of chocolate nougat and raisins. Toward the finish, the flavors get incredibly oaky, contributing a slight tannic astingency. Faint leather and black pepper. Finishes relatively dry and oaky with a mild alcohol warmth. Very oaky beer overall, but delicious. The bourbon barrel character and age have completely transformed the base beer, leaving behind only a shadow of it’s original self in a very faint whisper of smoke and chocolate flavors.
