2013 vintage. Brown pour with a small brown head. The aroma and flavor are outstanding. I get a ton of bourbon notes as well as all of the associated flavors - maple, vanilla and oak. There is also a good bit of molasses and alcohol, as well as some heavy caramel and toffee notes. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Outstanding beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark red with minimal head. Weird tastes all over this, most I cannot identify. I get the bourbon, some wood, fruits and floral. Really difficult to drink a bottle of this, not very good. Hugely disappointed.

Rating from old notes. Bottle. Colour...no head at all, but a semi deep amber colour. Nose...holy oaky! Loads of quercus and loads of Bourbon!! Palate...man! Even more oak and Bourbon! But there’s plenty of vanilla, toffee and marshmallow to temper the booze and oak. Dark fruits are present as are some notes of light bodied molasses and almond paste. The finish is quite a lingerer with the Bourbon coming in for an encore!

12 oz. bottle 2011 shared by Bacterial. Pours a unclear dark amber with no head. Aroma is warming booze and caramel malt and subtle dark fruit. Taste is sweet and warming molasses burnt sugars and caramel candies and subtle vanilla. Palate is full slick sticky and warming finish. Pretty nice!

Pours aight amber color, much lighter than the Fred wood. Big alcohol and bourbon aroma. Toasty and caramel malt flavor with all the bourbon and wood. Very delicious! Highly recommended.

Bottle from DrewFace. Aroma is all bourbon, nothing else. Flavor is strong bourbon and nice barrel character. Some vanilla in there too. Like it better than Fred from the wood.

12 oz bottle, 2012. Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a small off-white head that has fair retention. The aroma features bourbon, butterscotch and toffee. The taste, like the aroma, is bourbon butterscotch and toffee, The palate is fill and smooth and the carbonation is soft. Finishes long with lingering butterscotch. Overall:Tasty stuff.

Bottle, 2013 version. I knew going in that this was going to be flat, so I tried to temper expectations a little. Pours clear mahogany, just the slightest hint of carbonation. Big alcohol legs. Huge, sweet bourbon on the nose, hard toffee, oakiness. Full, chewy mouthfeel; caramel, bourbon, a little woodiness and almond. Like a cross, someone earlier mentioned, between a bourbon, a beer, and a port. Very nice, regardless.

Thanks to drowland for the share! A great tasting bourbon aged beer...hurt slightly by carbonation issues. Pour was murky brown with almost no head. Fantastic taste...vanilla, caramel, sugar. Perfectly balanced bourbon flavor with sweetness and wood and no burn. Very flat that it gave the beer an unnecessarily heavy taste. Even with the carbonation issue, a heck of a beer.
