2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
2011 bottle. Poured hazy sunset orange with pretty much no head sticking around. The aroma picked up lots of sweet, aggressive, decadent bourbon with caramel, vanilla, and a little maple beneath.. slightly off-putting medicinal overtones.. I enjoyed the bourbon, but the rest really didn’t come together. The flavor found molasses, maple, and vanilla at the core, with the same aggressive bourbon (plus related peppery character) laced throughout.. finished hot with mostly bourbon character. Thick and syrupy on the palate with very low carbonation.. coating.. left a long, building bourbon burn down the throat into the belly (with some oxidation).. hot overall.. this just didn’t do it for me.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle shared by tom10101, thanks bro! pours cloudy dark golden orange without a head and leaving no lacing per say. bourbon-soaked red frutis, sherry/xerez, sweet fruity malts with chocolate hints, booze - lots, slightly garbagy too, pepper. low carbonation if not still, medium to full body - oily and thick, sweet grassy-spicy finish. darn, had high expectations on this one..

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 2012 vintage-- hey, didn’t we share this at RBAG this year, cortesy of gramity? Why aren’t any of our ratings here? Anyway, this bottle is from Grippitis. Deep ruddy amber, minimal head. Sweet fruity toffee, bourbon, vanilla, spice, wood. Very rounded, soft, with a warming finish. Very nice.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle (12 oz). Thanks to Daniel for this one! Almost clear amber with no head and a bubbly ring of foam. Taste is relatively complex, but not so much appealing with bourbon, candi sugar, alcohol, vegetal notes and berries. Taste is very similar with bourbon, vanilla, berries, vegetal notes, alcohol and medium sweetness. Medium/full body. Flat. Unpleasant vegetal aftertaste. Very disappointing considering how good the regular Fred is. That one is pretty bad...

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a flat pale brown mess. Aroma is bourbony with some weird candy notes. Taste has weird red fruit tartness and sweet candy along with bourbon and vanilla. Bad batches shouldn’t get bottled this is unfortunate.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
"after having the awesomeness that was ADAM from the Wood, I was looking forward to this one. It was a nice beer, but did not improve on the base beer one bit, IMO. The bourbony fruity aroma and flavor were nice, and the smoothness hid the abv incredibly well, but the complexity is nearly gone, and apparently there were carbonation issues with some 11 batches, so it was close to flat. still good, just not a giant leap like AFTW was.""

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Thanks to Martinus(?). 355 ml. bottle sampled. 2012 Vintage. This is supposed to be the good carbonated batch. Quite hazy brown with little head. Very thick bourbon nose, touch molasses, brown sugar, very thick malts,.. Thick vanilla oak taste, lots of bourbon, boozy in a good way with a very thick molasses, lots of brown sugar, very thick malt base, thick toffee, light charred oak, warming thick oak, lingering bourbon finish. Very thick & creamy, decadent, amazing but very brutal beer, almost too much but that is just the way I like, beast the regular Fred from the Wood if memory serves me well but not by much.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour is a murky pale brown with no head. Nose is strong bourbon and wood with a good bit of caramel and some hints of dark fig and fruits. Nose is more sweet, less bourbon. Caramel and lots of toffee, a bit of slightly charred wood and notes of bourbon. Flavors are a bit more muted than the nose. Full bodied, sticky and chewy, with virtually no carbonation and a soft clean finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ RBSG Grand Tasting. Pours a hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty woody bourbon aroma with hints of caramel. Sweetish malty woody bourbon flavor. Has a sweetish malty woody bourbon caramel finish.
