Big vanilla whiskey nose from a fast dissipating 1/2" head. Carbonation is very low but does not take away from the experience. Tastes of almond and different tropical dried fruits. Overall a spectacular beer, but for this only being a 2011, i would have expected better retention to thecarbonation. I think the oxi dation i taste could bdone away with by force carbing the beer vs using a refermentation process. At this age its like a fresh cuvee de tomme or Angelís share.

2013 bottle. Pours copper with just a few loose bubbles on top; flat with no head. Smells good though with plenty of bourbon and wood to go with nice little nuances of plum, licorice, and toffee. Rich with a light burn in the back of the throat but very smooth going down. A gentle warmth throughout. The flavors mostly fall in line with the aroma: bourbon and barrel notes lead the way, with plenty of candied fruit (raisin, date, plum), sweet toffee, as well as vanilla and leather to give this some nice depth. Itís a good beer for sure, but oh man, this could have been epic with some carbonation. But I knew that going in.

(Bottle) Pours orange/red/brown with no head. Firey but fat and fairly rond barrel profile in the aroma with caramelly/bready malt alongside tropical and dried fruits. Nice oxidation. The flavour is medium to heavily sweet, medium to heavily bitter and light acidic with fairly slim malt profile (for a BW), firey barrel profile and fruit. The mouthfeel is numbing with almost no carbonation. Medium bodied.

Slightly hazy, burnt orange-brown with off-white lacing. Aroma is a bit hot from the bourbon; thereís also brown sugar, figs, charred oak, leather, and a subtle amount of tobacco. Sugary but not overly sticky, viscous, full-bodied, and smooth with little carbonation. Finish is boozy and sweet.

Bottle share in 2013. Pour is hazy dark brown with no head. Aroma is brown sugar, dates, honey, vanilla, and oak. Flavor is very malty - vanilla, oak chips, honey, booze. A bit cloying and almost no carbonation, disappointing.

2012 bottle enjoyed at brewery. Pours a cloudy burnt orange with an airy white cap that settles to a thick roped edge. Aroma of bourbon, candi, oak, fruit, juice. Taste is sweet, tangy. Silky mouthfeel from a medium carbonated level. This beer is amazing.

2011 Bottle from box, thaks Luscious Loines 4FS
Pours a hazy orange, pretty much flat.

The aroma is rich & malty... toffee, pipe tobacco, some cooked fruit, & mild bourbon... Itís oxidized, itís really very noticeably oxidized, very sherry like... I actually think it works with everything else going on here, but I think maybe this bottle could have been lifeless had we opened it much later.

The flavor is a bit like a cream sherry in as much as it has the rich & oxidized character of an oloroso but the bit raisin character of PX. Itís plenty sweet with Cavendish tobacco notes, raisin & cherry fruitiness, & plenty of toffee, licorice & bourbon. Again, itís totally oxidized and my instinct is to dismiss it as simply such, but Iíve got to say that this is the most sherry like beer Iíve ever had in a very pleasant way, it kept me sipping and swirling and going back for more, it was simply delicious in spite of itís state.

Not a shelf beer 4FS
