COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dave is an English Barley Wine. This beer was produced in 1994, and won first place at the 1998 Toronado Barley Wine Festival. The strength was achieved by taking 300 gallons of Adam and freezing it three times, leaving only 100 gallons. Always used as a teaching aid, it was produced to show people that Beer could be more than what they had experienced, and continues to do that today.

Big thanks to Tertons for sharing a couple oz of this 2 weeks ago. Pours a clearish soy sacue looking body, almost no carb, practically still with absolutely sick legs on the glass- definitely viscous as hell, for a beer. Aroma is tons ofbrown sugar, only slight signs of oxidation, mild on the sherry notes, just insane sugary sweetness, tons of thick sweet caramel malts and tons of fortified munich malt toastiness and full sweet character- notes of maple, leather, oak aged rum, and some vodka-alcohol hints. Fruity flavor, some pear, fig, raisin, date, tons of brown sugar, molaasses, and maple syrup- as it breathes a bit- thereis a shit load of raw wildflower honey all over the place with more hints of earth, leather, and some like campfire smoke. I get a nice sharp alcohol kick on the tip of the tongue, and it warms my mouth and stomach as I drink, but the alcohol isnt out of control- yet you know it is there- it just fits in nicely, unlike a 23% wws. Great beer which lives up to the hype. I really enjoyed this.

38cl, retired exclusive American brew, thx alot to Dirk and Koen for sharing!, very complex brew, alcoholic/malty/sweet and slightly smoked/fruity, yet not too heavy (considering such a high ABV!), as was expected some signs of oxidation, yet balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet very expensive! (thx for sharing costs!), WOW!, íGladly the bottle made it safely; all in an awesome experience!"

Thanks to Brian for his generosity. Alcohol dominates the aroma - a hint of malt underneath and a hint of astringency. Itís clearly an iced beverage. Pours a flat clear dark brown. Taste follows suit - Alcohol dominates with some biscuity malt and a hint of rubbing alcohol. A bit smoother than the nose indicates. Canít believe I was able to try it. Thanks again!

Sampled at the epic Chicago blowout tasting. Pours a completely flat dense brown in color that looks pretty similar to soy sauce. Nose is maple, some light booze, oak, chocolate, and soy sauce. The flavor is incredibly boozy, it pretty much dominates the flavor. There is some chocolate and malt on the back end, but itís just big time booze. Moderate to thick mouthfeel, slightly oily/slick, very boozy, and a long finish. An awesome experience, but Iím not incredibly impressed by it. The nose is really nice, but the booziness is offputing to me. Thanks a bunch to the guys that made this possible, very cool.

Served in a Hair of the Dog stemmed taster glass. Smoke, soy, molasses, tobacco, booze, and a hint of dark fruits. Itís basically super Adam. Not all that fantastic.

Served in a Hair of the Dog snifter. Acquired via large trade with Mike. A lot of generosity in the beer community. The beer is dark brown with a few random brown bubbles. There was actually a hiss upon wrestling off the screw top. The aroma is fabulous. Molasses and caramel, booze and candy, a touch of sweetness but by no means cloying. Fabulous flavor. Hype aside this beer is actually delicious. 29% abv is masked extremely well. Of course, this beer is 19 years old. So mellow and smooth. No carbonation. Like a fine after dinner cordial. Chocolate and port wine with rich molasses. Similar in some regards to Samuel Adams MMM. World class. What an experience.

375 ml screw top bottle. Pours a motor oil black, some bottles here and there but basically flat. Nose is sweet dark fruit, chocolate, and lots of barrel presence. Flavor is not as sweet as the nose, and even more booze with notes of bourbon, oak, chocolate, and tobacco. Full body, flat, lingering sweetness and alcohol. Iíve had 3 bottles in the cellar for over 10 years. Decided to sampleone due to the "White Whale" stigma. Greatly over-rated. Iím glad I only spend $35.00 on the 3 bottles in 1999.

Now this right here is the mother of all EIS beers. Dark toffee, dark fruits and hot alcohol. Not as sweet as I was expecting
