glennmastrange (370), hobe sound, Florida, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of nutty and caramel, moderate orange for the hops, moderate dough and soap for the yeast and date and brown sugar (or maybe it was the honey). Head was average sized, creamy, off-white with fair lacing and was mostly diminishing. Color is murky orange. Flavor starts heavily sweet and lightly acidic and the long finish is moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium to full, syrupy (but not bad) and the carbonation is between soft and lively. It finishes moderately alcoholic. A well rounded Barley Wine with some of the deepest aromas I’ve experienced in a beer kegbear (56), Orange, California, USA Jul 18, 2008 Bottle from 2006, two years cellared. No head at all even though I tried to pour one. Low carbonation. Aroma of sweet fruits, honey and toffee. Tastes of sweet fruit and toffee with no hop bitterness. Smooth with a thick mouth feel and creamy taste. Tastes like cream sherry. I knew a girl named Sherry once, but she was no dog. ajm (265), USA Jul 13, 2008 Really outstanding. Bottle from Hi-Time in Costa Mesa aged 6 mo. Very dark. Later sips had me reminding myself that it wasn;t a stout. Roastiness galore, currant, the faintest hint of pralines, chocolate and hops. A very impressive beer. Veer (321), Landskrona, Sweden Jul 13, 2008 Aroma: very, very nice, fresh, fruity flowery hop aroma. Biscuity malts. Slightly chemical (bitter).
Flavour: sweet, toasted, smoky, fruity, I love it! So many sweet malts leading to a non-cloying end. Bittersweet aftertaste. Fullbodied.
Palate: near perfect, vinous, smooth but adequately fizzy... very fullbodied.
Appearance: slightly dim orange, slightly coppery body with pale, fine sandy, yellowish foam. Nice. GreatLibations (1241), Sasquatcho, Arizona, USA Jul 12, 2008 Thanks Jimbo O. Pours a hazed roasted apricot color w/ a tall lasting froth. Good lacing w/ aromas of sweet, tart stonefruit nectar. Full nectar w/ a very creamy texture. Nice! Sweet and meaty w/ a defined mild tartness. Flavors from nectarines, plumbs, and apricot, including kiwi, pinapple, and caramel. The finish is long and savory. This brew has a moderate hop profile that does a good job in balancing this one out. It has an appealing milky texture that simply blows my mind. Good stuff man. Trump! This is the closest thing to Angels Share I have ever tasted.
