BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Dec 3, 2006 Nice head for a barley wine. Aroma is vinous with grape and dark plums. Flavour is rich and thick but the alcohol is noticeable and its quite sweet. JJClark (545), Roscoe, Illinois, USA Dec 1, 2006 Bottle from trade with Dubbercody. Thanks Jamie! Pours a nice hazy golden color with a fat frothy off-white head. After the pour there was still a bit of sediment in the bottle. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, hops and fruit. Taste is outstanding of all of the above items. This is a rich full bodied Barley wine with a complex yet balanced taste. Outstanding! Sweet salty barley wine with some bitterness in aftertaste. Full body. beermouth (434), Langeskov, Denmark Nov 21, 2006 Amber with orange/yellow notes and o finme offwhite head. Malt, cane sugar, fruits and grass. Strong taste and very well balanced. Theis (3617), Denmark Nov 19, 2006 Bottle at ølbaren - Thanks to Sk8viking. Dark brown - white head. Lots of berries, ryebread, sweetness, flowery, aroma-hopped, raisins, plums, light alcoholic, sweet, dry finish. Very very nice. cab (861), Denmark Nov 19, 2006 Bottle from Beermouth. Yes yes a barly wine i like, intens sweetnes in taste and in aroma. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Nov 17, 2006 12oz bottle, 2004 vintage, courtesy of kramer17801. Thanks, Jason! Bottom of the bottle (the top was clearer) pours a murky brown appearance; off-white head with decent lacing. Very aromatic, hoppy nose: sweet pine and floral notes, hints of grapefruit, slightly herbal. Full mouthfeel: candy sugar, caramel, white pepper; hints of vanilla as well; all surrounded by piney and grapefruit hops, a bit of orange; slightly viscous, chewy, well-balanced. Finishes pleasantly sweet; hoppiness is blended well at this age. Great beer. GG (1612), NorCal, California, USA Nov 17, 2006 This is an all out attack. The beer doesn’t play nicely and it want’s you to know they aint messing around. The aroma I could smell all day. Spices, fruit, malt and hops combine together to make a great combo. Appearance is a hazy dark orange color, almost copper-like. Mouthfeel is a little weak, but what it makes up for is hiding the alcohol content very well. Flavors are damned near perfect, and almost define what an American b-wine should be like. Kudos to HotD for making another great beer.
