illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jan 22, 2006 2004 Bottle from Kramer17801. Pours orangish brown, not much head. Aroma of alcohol, dried fruit, and floral hops. Flavor is very intense hops and sweet malt. Finish is warming, bitter, resiny, and somewhat boozy. A very good barleywine Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jan 22, 2006 Another winner from kms399! Murky orange/brown pour, thin white head. Nose is sweet, candied grapefruit, with some floral and pine notes shining through. Flavor is sweet, but not as sweet as the nose foreshadows. More grapefruit, and a touch of bitterness in the finish. Hops are apparent, and balance well with the other flavors. LOVED IT! gputty (456), Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA Jan 22, 2006 What an experience! From bottle. Pours a cloudy brown/orange with small off-white head. Nose is of candied grapefruit, dense floral aroma and pine. Flavor follows nose with less sweetness, a little bitter finish and well hidden alcohol. Very hoppy! I would have thought this was an IIPA had the label not said differently. Another exceptional brew from HoTD! jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Jan 21, 2006 Bottle courtesy of kms339 pours murky brown with a small white head. Too metallic and watered down. Tastes like a good homebrew and not a great 99 percentile barley wine from a Pacific NW brewer. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Jan 19, 2006 Made in 2005. Crimson in color. Heavy berry and bready aromas greet the senses. Syrupy texture coats the throat going down. Warming. One too many of these might get you pretty loopy. I can taste the alcohol, albeit it’s not so strong to turn me off. This is top notch. Better with each sip! hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA Jan 14, 2006 2005 bottle. The first thing I noticed when I popped th elid and brought the bottle to my nose was an almost perfume like aroma. After pouring into a snifter, that aroma turns more hoppy with some sweet fruits. The colour is almost ruby, and while it looks non-hazy, i can’t see through it. The first sip is fantastic. This is what I’ve been looking for in a barley wine. The taste has fruit like sweetness. Like digging into strawberries, watermelon, and kiwi. There is no dryness, or alcohol burn here. The hops develop fantastically from the first sip and produce a climax of perfect blance at the finish. This is really good. wineandbrew (35), Steilacoom, Washington, USA Jan 9, 2006 Bottle from Steilacoom Wine and Brew. This beer Totally Rocks! I really like Barley Wines and mistakenly drank my first one of these like it were a "regular" beer. Hops is very focused and the malt balances nicely rather than taking over. Like I say if "regular" Micros had this much flavor and focus I would be in heaven. Look around for this beer for sure!! beerprincess (51), Indiana, USA Jan 8, 2006 It is Amber/Caramel in color, cloudy and has a nice head. Quickly fading lace probably due to the alcohol. Alcohol is very prevelant on the nose, but I can pick up deep caramel too. There is also a piny aroma. It shows a sign of sweetness yet has dryness as well. Nicely balanced with an almost mocha taffy flavor. There is a nice long finish.
