Doggie Claws has a deep copper color and an intense hop character. I use Simcoe and Amarillo hops along with Organic Pilsner malt, British crystal and dark wild flower honey collected on Mt. Hood. The beer is ready to drink now but will improve with age. Happy Holidays from the curs at Hair of the Dog. - Alan Sprints, Brewmaster

Pours mahogony amber with a silky cream colored head. Nose or dark fruit, citrus, caramel, and toffee. Taste follows. Medium body is creamy. This beer is impressive. But as impressive as doing the review on handed on an iphone while holding a seven week old child also while being buzzed somewhat quick.

Rating #700 (wonder how many beers I’ve actually tried, yet only rated 700)...pulled one out of the cellar for this moment - 2006 (yes) vintage - pours a beautiful deep garnet with no head and near-zero carbonation. Aroma is candied fruit, booze, caramelized malt, more alcohol, raisin, brown sugars - complex and pleasant, though quite boozy! Flavor is nice as well - dark fruit at the forefront turns into a mix of brown sugar, alcohol, and red wine. Sweet throughout, I’m a bit surprised that 10 years hasn’t toned down the alcohol just a bit. Oily and slick on the palate - the lack of carbonation isn’t a detractor. No hints of oxidization thankfully. Enjoyable - now I need to have it fresh - guess I’ll have to head to Portland in 2016!
