Draft @ HOTD. Pours a clear dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a sweetish fruity floral honey aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy and piney bitter flavor with hints of honey and brown sugar. Has a long malty hoppy bitter finish with some hints of alcohol in the finish. Very nice!

Aromas of sweet fruits and a good deal of citrus and honey. Flavors of strong sweet malts, brown sugar, citrus, honey, and a pleasant rather hefty piney earthy bitterness in the finish. Some alcohol. Interesting and enjoyable.

had this on tap at the brewery. recently tried doggie claws bottle for the first time - so have a reasonably timed comparison. the cherry blossom honey really seemed to add nicely to the flavors. was my favorite of theirs before and is even better with the addition. wish I could get more of it.

Tasted @ Hair of the Dog Brewing Company in Portland.
Special 2007 edition. Hazy dark amber colored brew. Very sweet aroma, sweet fruits, cherries, honey and brown sugar. Malty, brown sugar, honey and some sweet bourbon. Overall pretty sweet, but still very enjoyable. Signs of a very good brew.

On tap at Hair of The Dog. Pours out a dark amber topped with a ligth head. Aroma of sweetness all over this one. The tast was great thick rich malt, brown sugar. Pretty sweet but very tasty. Thanks Alan for pouring me a nice glass of this very tasty BW.

Hard Liver 2008. Floral, sweet aroma. Very sweet honey dominates. Thick with bitter hops. Too sweet and cloying. Far off from the original. Still on tap as of April 4th.

snifter @ hard liver - dark orange with thin head around the edges; smooth aromas of honey, fruit and lavender; very thin in texture compared to the chewy normal editions; flavors are sweet and again lots of honey; malty backbone is present, but much reduced; seems like a very different brew, but just as delicious; smooth and creamy finish

Hard Liver ’08
Somewhat hazy amber. Chewy with a big hop signature. Huge fruity character with mango, berry, and papaya. The palate is actually a little plasticy, with hints of fruits but this sort of falls apart.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2008 1st rating. 2nd Brewery 07-08 Beer Road Trip with Bikesandbeer, 12/31/07 @ The Brewery with Alan Sprints. Alan was nice enough to give Kevin, Kevin’s Girlfriend Jessi a private tour and tasting on New Year’s Eve 07. Draft @ The brewery, this is a special version of Doggie Claws made with a different kind of honey than the usual version. Had this side by side with 2007 Doggie Claws. Pours dark/light amber. Nose is awesome and incredibly sweet. Taste is killer with a an amazingly sweet honey flavor, sweet fruitier and more serene than the original.
