4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
RBSG 2006 - Grand Tasting. Thanks to kp for making sure I got some of this. Pure amber hue and filmy white head. Fine aromas of cognac and champagne with strawberry esters. Flavor brings some fresh split oak and tons of Fredful complexity. Pleasant, sweet alcohol in the finish. Still seems young and needs more cellar time, but quite nice already. This is a highable cellarable gem in my view.

RBAG. Brown pour. Bigtime bourbon aromas, lots of oak. Flavour is bourbon, very boozy and warming, but really nice sipping stuff. I think this bottle was 2013

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This beer pours a very hazy orange color witha s mall head of white bubbles. There is light bit of vinnegar in the nose and a touch of citrus. This is only lightly tart once tasted but very oxidized, the only pleasant barrel flavor I’m really getting from this is vanilla. It is sweet and sticky and texture and overall a pretty big disappointment.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted at RBSG grand tasting. 12oz bottle. Ratebeer version. Pour towards the end. Totally cloudy amber brown color. Thin ring off-white head, dots of ropes of lace. Very interesting aroma. Malty flavor, oxidization. Medium plus body. Smooth, lighter carbonation, dry finish. Moderate sweet taste, some bitter, dry finish. Kind of like a desert wine in the flavor. Some light heat on the end. Solid, interesting stuff to try, but my guess is that it’s seen better days. 6/4/6/4/13

2013 bottle. Hazy dark mahogany color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, dark fruits and molasses. Full-bodied with an oaky booze character and flavors of dark fruit, caramel malt, chocolate and subtle spice. The finish is oaky with caramel and fruit aftertaste. Very good beer all around.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rich beer, with notes of raisin, oak and off course malt. The bourbon gives the beer a great taste of warm vanilla.
