EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Dec 4, 2008 Clear orange-red pour with a thin white head. Fruity malt aroma, caramel and peach. Roasty flavor with sweet fruit and caramel. Smooth. Hides its alcohol well. Hoppy finish.
can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Dec 3, 2008 Aroma of alcohol, apples, lemon rind, and brown sugar - but it can barely get up through the thick frothy white head. It was hard to pour, it bubbled up very quickly. A cloudy yellow color. Flavor of more alcohol, spicy cloves, some subtle grapefruit hoppiness, and loads of sour yeastiness right at the end. Almost too harsh - this is a big beer, but I think it works okay. It may need to be aged a little while longer. Batch 73. amishcaravan (237), Winona, Minnesota, USA Nov 30, 2008 this one pours very thick for a lighter colored beer. scent of carmelized sugar. taste is strong with the taste of carmelized sugar and some fruit tones. very nice beer. wish I could get this beer around here. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle: Pour is very thick but medium golden in color. I forced a head but could only get just a thin light tan head. Aroma is of strong floral yeast and sweet malt. VERY full body with sweet malt, alcohol, light fruit, citrus, and a hint of pine towards the end. Nice beer with a slightly bitter finish. Good brew with a ton of complexity. Buy two of this beer and age one. TheJollyOne (204), Kofu, Japan Nov 29, 2008
Amazing brew! Poured an amber body with small tan head which left excellent lacing. Sweet caramel nose, over ripe fruits. Taste was amazing and very complex; sweet candy, brandy?, sweet fermented fruits and spices. Oily on the palate, lovely finish. Alcohol and sweet malt strengthens as is warms. This is a top notch barley wine! GreggG (19), Spokane, Washington, USA Nov 27, 2008 Batch #70. A chorus of very fine bubbles rushes to the top of the glass, forming a pillowy head about an inch thick. After a few minutes some of the head subsides leaving a surface that looks like small marshmallows floating on top the beer. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, and sweeter fruits (pineapple?). Color is very light amber, tending towards orange. Tastes sweet at first, followed by a light bitterness that is really enjoyable. Body is thin but full of flavor providing a good balance. Very enjoyable beer! CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Nov 26, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. OK! Hops and other fruity awesomeness on the nose. Biggest head I’ve ever seen. Other littering-and… littering and… littering and…. Awesomeness. Once again, really thin-bodied, but full-flavored brew. fidel (886), Livermore, California, USA Nov 20, 2008 Batch# 73 Golden amber, floral, caramel, CO2, fruity, hops, alcohol, citrus, yeatsy.
