Egon (392), Gothenburg, Sweden Jun 16, 2008 Bottle. Hazy orange to brown, brown red head. Brown sugar, fruit, bitterness from hops. Apricots. Dense. Really nice beer. I had it on the attic for half a year. airforce1 (61), Atascosa, Texas, USA Jun 10, 2008 Good ol Trader Joes. Amber and Nutty, light carbonation, and extremely sessionable. alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Jun 7, 2008 12 oz. bottle (batch 70) courtesy of a recent trade but I can’t recall who at this time . The pour is clear to only slightly hazy deep golden with a fluffy off white head into my snifter. The aroma began with a Belgian twist, but became more moderately sweet malt, fruity (apricots, light citrus), and a touch bready. The flavor is caramel malt, toffee, moderately sweet but dry, spicy, hoppy (citrus, herbal), with some fruitiness throughout. The alcohol is not so present in the flavor, but adds a warming component so you know its there. This glides effortlessly down my throat. Definetly a standout beer. Snojerk321 (1923), San Diego, California, USA Jun 3, 2008 12oz bottle, batch # 71. Pours a mostly clear glowing amber, no head. Nose of candied dark fruits, hops and burnt toffee. Flavors of caramel and toasted malts. Finish had a slightly bitter tinge to it. cmillward (419), Orlando, Florida, USA May 30, 2008 Batch 69, served 05/26/08. Deep dark golden with a huge off-white head. On the nose tangerine hops, rich brown sugar, apricots, citrus hops, and a big maltiness. Sweet, bready, sugary dried fruits, strong hop presence, a little alcohol evident, a touch of spicy hops. Nicely carbonated, great bitter ending. I think the mouthfeel and bitterness did a lot to prevent this from becoming cloying, despite the huge sweet component. Excellent. hombrepalo (748), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 29, 2008 12oz Thanks to riversideAK for this one. Batch 72, poured with the largest non-Belgian head I’ve ever seen. Color was a weak cloudy dirty orange. Aroma was hoppy with some floral notes most prominent. Flavor was definitely hoppy and sweet, but the alcohol was very detectable. A bitter finish to the thick and somewhat creamy (and very carbonated) mouthfeel. Nice beer to try. BuckeyeSammy (454), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 27, 2008 Updated: Jun 18, 2008This is a barley wine? More of a belgian style. Dark apricot, fluffy light beige head. Nice seltzery carbonated kick up front. Flavor- notes of dark fruits, malt, spice. Warming alcohol. Thick mouth-feel, molasses, bitter lingering on the palate long after taste. Extremely enjoyable. TeamTrappist (368), jericho, New York, USA May 26, 2008 12 oz bottle from 06 Poured a murky light brown with a thin white head. Strong yeast and malt nose. Interesting mouthful, as it is well carbonated and very flavorful. It is somewhat spicey and hoppy, with belgian notes, and finishes with a big bitter and then somehow sweet finish. A nice combination of flavors and styles that I truly enjoyed.
