Lovely floweris hop nose. Sweet flavour with raisins, caramel and noticable alcohol, Medium bodied. Ends up dry with bitter hops. As expected a very enjoyable brew. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Dec 28, 2007 Pours a nice ruddy brown with big fluffy head. The aroma fills the room. No joke- I’m 4 feet away and it seems like it’s right under my nose! Sweet malt, pineapple, sugars. Flavor is similar, with a touch of a bite, but is a little less powerfull than the nose. A great beer, overall. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA Dec 24, 2007 Pours a slightly hazy red/orange with a huge creamy head that is insanely resiliant. I could eat the head with a spoon. Smells of many different fruits, some spice, caramel and yeast. This is a huge beer. Many different flavors going on. Big fruit, dried and juicy, alcohol, big malt, rye. Finishes with some spice. Feels very full and creamy in the mouth. The ABV is apparant but not in a bad way. Warms you up nicely. This is a sipper through and through and absolutely incredible. Very complex and original and as it warms up more and more shows. This is a must try for any BA.
FrancoisMtl (61), Boisbriand, Quebec, Canada Dec 17, 2007 I actually tasted Fred a few times now but never rated it. Since I got a bottle from wetherel I decided to now do it. Pours cloudy golden/copper a really nice head that stay all along the tasting. Perhaps the high carbonation helps! Aroma of fruits, malts and hops (citrus and pine). I would never be fade up to smell this beer. Again, flavors are a great mix of malts (can recognized the rye in there), fruits and perceives some honey as well. Bitterness is right on! This is an awesome beer! Thanks John! sunevdj (1765), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Dec 16, 2007 Pours a hazy amber. Full flavored. Dry with aromas of malts, hops and fruits. Sour hint of raisins. Dry finish. Tiny hint of funghi. Low carbonation. Bier brauen (210), Bremerton, Washington, USA Dec 15, 2007 Cloudy, burnt orange color with a fruity, hoppy, malty aroma wafting out of the 1 inch head. Full flavor from start to finish. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Dec 13, 2007 Batch #69. It’s a bit young. Pours a clear slightly pale copper with lasting white head and decent lacing. The aroma has a punch of hoppiness that is all over the place with spice, citrus and pine hop notes. The hoppiness is quickly dampened by a nice nose of caramel, dark fruity esters and alcohol phenols. The taste starts with a cherry bite aided by the carbonation followed by muted hop notes of pine and spice. Before the initial hop notes let go a creamy sweet caramel maltiness surfaces along with toffee, a rye twang, mild of dark fruity esters and a hint of biscuit. The hops re-take control of the flavor with a moderate bitter assault that continues to the finish. It ends with hop bitterness, sweet caramel maltiness and an alcohol tingling sensation. A year or two more would help.
