Pours a hazy golden with a small white head and lots of floaties. Nose is full of tropical fruits, alcohol, phenols, peaches, and plums. Flavor is very sweet and fruity, but in a much different manner than most american barleywines. Alcohol is highly noticeable in the flavor. The finish is bitter and alcoholic. I must say I was quite disappointed with this brew, considering how much I loved Adam, and Fred ftw. Im pretty sure this was a relatively new batch so that may have had something to do with it. Would like to revisit with a bottle with some age on it. corby112 (700), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2007 Pours a cloudy amber color with a nice sized white head. Aroma is dominated by the strength of alcohol. Also contains hints of spices and white fruits. Taste is very similar to the aroma in which the 10% abv is not masked very well at all. tastes of strong alcohol that is slightly balanced with golden apple and spices. The alcohol taste becomes less overbearing as it warms. Beaver (595), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 24, 2007 12 oz bottle, batch 56 (thanks to Crosling!). Pours a hazy golden orange with huge yeast chunks. The head is huge and meringue-like and retains well and laces the glass some.
The aroma is sweet bready malts, fruits (melon and figs), and honey with some vinous alcohol.
The flavor is sweet sugary fruits, caramel malts and some bittering (grassy hops) and warming alcohol at the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full with nice velvety carbonation.
Overall, a well made and well balanced barley wine. It’s definitely big, bold and intense. It loses some of its sweetness and becomes a little more harsh as it warms to room temperature. grandet (478), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 19, 2007 Hazy amber-copper body with a thick fluffy off-white head. Effervescent and malty with traces of plums, raisins, and caramel. Boozy but not cloying. Powerfully robust and uniquely intriguing. Better share this beer, because it can wreck your game. Great sipping, fireside beer for those chilly lightless days. Yum! robforbes (1085), Bremerton, Washington, USA

Aroma of malts, molasses, and hops. Molasses, malts and citrus make up the taste. One of the best I’ve had in some time.
