pours a slightly glowing but cloudy orange color with a creamy off-white head with good retention and thick lacing down the glass. The aroma has caramel, citrus hops and is tangy. The flavor has citrus hops, malt, nuttiness, spices, toffee and finishes with a soft bitterness. Its a creamy, full-bodied beer and is very drinkable. Very unique beer overall and is one of the beer that really made me want to get closer to the Oregon beer scene. Fred from the Wood is more fragrant but this is easy drinking. mrhoppy (209), Santa Clara, California, USA

This one was very impressive. Pours a very hazy straw gold with a huge white head, very active carbonation and some ugly little yeast floaties. The aroma is a huge whiff of primarily American hops, super sharp, but with some nice malt and yeast presence to add some balance. Highly enticing. The flavour hits the palate like a hoppy train wreck right off (in a good way, because some train wrecks are good......), almost puckering, yeast adds even more dryness but some grainy Pils malt comes in for some sweetness which is really tasty. Any rye malt in here is merely an afternote. I think the Pils malts actually work really well with the dry hoppy aspects, yet without seeming like an Imperial Pils. Very big feeling but still pretty drinkable for the style. Thanks again Matt. Rustyham (556), miami, Florida, USA

Pours a hazy dull orange with clearish white head. Fruity and citrusy, hoppy, and malty. Massively carbonated. Good job of covering the alcohol. A lot is going on here. I’ve never had a beer quite like this before. vtafro (469), , New Jersey, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 28, 2009 The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass modest turbid, almost no head. Very complex and alcoholic aroma. Starts very strong, sweet-hoppy, quite aromatic-hoppy. Shows more and more the alcohol, finish also woody-spicy. Goes down burning. Excellent!
