Loads of nice citirc-notes. Heavy bitter flavor and finish. Long complex finish. Oily palate. This is totally balanced beer. onystrom (741), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark Mar 2, 2007 Hazy amber color with great head. Heavy strong beer with a full flavor of hops and a bit to much citrus. saxo (3511), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Mar 2, 2007 Bottle. Nice big creamy head with superb duration. Color is amber. Aroma is sweet and hoppy. Taste is nicely balanced with alcohol and hops. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Mar 1, 2007 Very beautiful copper-red with a huge, creamy and golden head. The aroma has loads of hops, fruit and caramel. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavour is sweetish, but it has a nice counterweight in a good hoppy bite. It’s very complex with notes of fruits like peach and oranges, also toffee and caramel and loads of aroma hops. It’s a nice BW, and you need a long time to drink this one by yourself! 1915 rmussman (905), California, USA Feb 28, 2007 First off I need to learn how to pour these beers. After a frothy Adams a few days ago, I once again poured this one and it went over the top. The appearance is wonderful. Cloudy brown and you can see the flavors as you swish it. Mouthfeel is very smooth with a nice aftertaste. Flavor is great and has a brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Feb 26, 2007 Shared with Mr. Facto, CaptainCougar, & 1FastSTi. 12oz bottle, batch 44 (2002?). Well carbonated in the glass (surprising) with a white head and a lightly chunky haze. The aroma has a great deal going on. Citrus fruits with darker fruits all blended together. Some sharp acidity along with caramel malt in the background. The flavor was much sweeter than I expected. Cotton candy, dates, and hints of an acidic sharpness. Also some faint cardboard. Creamy body. Another good one from HOTD. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA Feb 26, 2007 Batch 63 - The color of this beer is a burnt orange, off white head with a ton of suspended floaties hanging around. The head left no lacing on my glass, but there were patchs of suds sticking. Aroma is clearly sweet. Caramel, grapefruit, brown sugar and just a slight bit of metal hanging around in the background. Hops aren’t quite as prominent in the aroma as they are in the taste, but they are there. Mouthfeel is slightly thick and full bodied with a bit of an alcohol burn. Flavors first and foremost is sweet caramel malts. After you get past the caramel, there’s the grapefruity hops and alcoholic burn in the finsih. The burn though is tempered nicely by the sweetness so it’s noticeable, but not overpowering. Finish is a bit bitter. Very nice beer for a very cold evening. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 25, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a nice deep copper- lighter than most barleywines with a fluffy off white head fading to a film. Aroma is phenolic, with some spices, clove, and some solventy plastic-like characteristics, along with some fruity esters, and a sweet pale malt and light caramel mlat hints. Herbal and hoppy flavor with nots of lemon, orange and other citrus, phenolic, slightly plastic-like and a nice smooth malt balance. Excellent aged on tap(the 04 was phenomenal), but this relatively fresh bottle wasnt as good.
