Bottle. Peach, malt and peppery alcohol aroma. Orange amber color with gigantic head and nice lacing. Sweet orange/peach, light barley malt flavor - alcohol and white pepper finish. Great beer.

’bout 33cl bottle shared with faroeviking. amber , very small white head. slightly sour aroma. sunburned beer, hoppy, barley wine’ish. flavor is raisins, sugar, hops, syrup, sweet yet delicate. the beer had no best before date printed anywhere, so i’ts anyone’s guess if it was fresh or not. brewer : please print a best before date. I might figure the date from the batch number, but that would be cumbersome when in a shopping situation.

My top beer for 2005. Batch 59. Cloudy orange with a thick polyester fill head. Big delicious grapefruit and spruce hop aroma. Flavour is a little rough and uneven. Competing teams of alcohol, hops and yeast compete for territory on the tongue. Lemon, yeast and hop finish. The parts do add up to more than the whole. A meal of a beer.

Biggish offwhite creamy lasting head over orange body with yeast particles. Intense bready alcoholic plum and flour aroma with unidentifiable hop notes. Intense bitter sweetness marzipan malt taste with resiny, oily, alcohol, and pine needle notes. Some mint, citrus, and cocoa as well. Extreme amounts of taste. A bit overwhelming. (0.355l bottle.)

Batch 70. I really enjoyed this one, not a typical barley wine. Pours with a creamy, off-white head covering a hazy, darkish, orange-brown body. Aroma of figs, spiciness, sugar, mandarin citrus, alcohol and perfume. Taste is of sweet fruits, savory, then caramel everywhere. Great strong alcohol presence in the taste throughout, which I like a lot. Creamy mouthfeel, perfrect level of carbonation, with some warming on the finish. Great beer by Hair of the Dog.

Hazy amber, big white creamy head. Oranges, grass, oak, some hops and alcohol in aroma. Oranges, raisin, pepper in flavour with a warming alcohol note. Bitter, orangey peppery warming afterstaste. It seemed to me to be a cross between a Tripel and a Barley Wine.

Bottle. Batch 49. HUGE head, Amber color beer with an off-white head. Very carbonatd. Fruity aroma - peach, mango, some citrus. Rich flavor - spicey, malty, honey, alcohol, some yeast. Complex but smooth. Full bodied.

This is an excellent beer. I didn’t think it was a barley wine but an American strong ale. Very dark orange and a long lasting tan head. Light hops in the aroma suggest an ipa. Complex flavor that includes bitter hops, sugar, sour, fermenting cerals, and some alcohol. Alcohol is also present in the palate and lightly burns the tongue.
