4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
You should never drink this beer straight out of the bottle. Itís brewed green and needs AT LEAST a year in the bottle before itís character is expressed. Take a two-year old Fred to a dinner party with wine snobs and see what happens. Your boorish beer habit will have gained new respect.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ Hair of the Dog, Portland. Pours hazy golden with a big creamy head. Aroma is quite malty with oak, toffee, grain and some notes of spice and juniper, as well as some hoppy apricots. Full body with very soft carbonation. Flavour is roasted malts with notes of bread, as well as kandi, vanilla, perfume and flowers, and some hoppy orange peel. Long balanced finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewpub - Pours hazy golden with a white head. The aroma has candi sugar, light spice and Belgium abbey yeast. It has a full rich body with semi-soft carbonation and is pretty smooth. The flavor starts off very sweet with light toast and a bit of spice, pepper and a ribbony caramel trait. Nicely done.

1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
I agree with the previous comments about batch 92. Unfortunately, not up to the standards of this great brewery. Flat. Boozy. Suspended floating particles. The honey at the end was the only redemption.

12oz batch 93 in Chapeau glass. Viscid pour of turbid amber with negligible foam. Cigar box, lavender, maple sugar, and leaf litter aromas. Heavy-handed doses of sweet and tannic bitter fight for dominance with no bubbles to referee. This is not ready.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance is cloudy golden. Aroma is hops and mild tang of the rye. Lingering bitterness, spice and fruitiness and very syrupy sweetness. Nice but donít know if I could drink a lot nor want to.

Bottle as an extra from Homer321. A long time want. Killing me with these! Thanks bud. Batch 92 poured on May 24, 2014. Pours murky orange colored with no head at all. A bit ugly. Huge sweet aroma of malt, some old citrus grapefruit hops, honey, caramel, smells soooo sweet. Flavor follows with a citrus honeycomb flavor, very sweet, lemon rind notes, caramel. Seems to be a lot going on here but verging on cloying. Syrupy thick mouthfeel with no carbonation. Totally flat. Iíve had Fred from the Wood, and I think the wood aging helps makes this a bit more drinkable. A definite sipper. Honestly this is better than the score I gave it overall. Very glad I got to try it!

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 ounce bottle (Batch 92) poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Pours a hazy honey orange with hardly any off-white head, bits of sediment throughout. Looks flat as no head formed other than a small cluster on one corner. Aromas of caramel, candied and dark fruit, toffee. Tasting notes of caramel, dark fruit, brown sugar, light floral hops. Light body with a dry finish. Booze is mostly hidden. Thin mouthfeel, definitely flat. Had Batch 89 in November and that was noticeably better.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: Cloudy orange with a pleasantly fluffy white head.
N: Nice hop bill. Earth and pine, a touch of pineapple and orange. Taffy, toffee, and buttery cracker.
T: Leaning toward the bitter. Malt adds a soft sweetness.
M: A trace of alcohol burn. Warm and sticky. Medium heavy body.
O: A good batch. Shows Alanís deftness of hand, and stands out from the crowd.
