3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Batch #77 [A] Caramel, and a light candied citrus. [A] A hazy golden color, with a white, retentive head. [F] Some astringent booze on end. Flavor is cherries, dark fruit, citrus, caramel. Pilsner malt is noticeable. [P] A touch syrupy and over carbonated. Fizzy mouth. Not something to put down quickly. [O] Reminds me of a DFH beer. Like a toned down 120 min. Not sure if I would necessarily categorize this as a barleywine. I made the mistake of ignoring the bottle, and pouring the sediment in, causing an uproar of foam in the process. This is one for the cellar to temper, and cool down. Way to hot for me to enjoy fresh. Campfire beer.

Very good beer, but a little alcohol forward for the style. And I hardly ever think that...

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours golden-brown and cloudy with a thick light tan head. Aroma is a nice balanced blend of hops and malts. Taste is exactly the same. The hops and maple syrup flavors lead quickly to some rye inspired malts that then slides into a long bitter finish. Overall, it is rustic and very flavorful.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear amber color, almost no lacing at all. Subtle aroma of sugarcane, grape, pear, brown sugar, damp pine needles, and rich loam. Dry, tannic bitterness with a surprising depth of flavor. Smooth and medium-bodied with a lingering bitter finish. Mild to moderate booziness

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours bronze around the outside with a deep orange center and a large cream colored head. The aroma is citrus, orange juice, tangerine, and sweet sugar with a touch of pine. The taste is clean and hoppy initially with a spicey kick on the back end. The malts really shine on this one and create balance all around. The palate varies from light and clean at times to medium with a sugary candy coating. The carbonation is high. Excellent and complex all around without being overwhelming - total balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
12 fl.oz. bottle
Meine Flasche sagt "Batch 77". Voluminöse Schaumentwicklung. Orange-trüb-matschig im Glas.
Toller zitrus-hopfiger Geruch.
--> interessantes Bier. Für meinen Geschmack aber viel zu klebrig-süß und zu alkoholisch-scharf. Das geht bei 10% auch besser!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle shared by Kevin among a few folks at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach. Poured into a taster. Brown-orange in appearance with a few floaties despite a careful pour. A two-plus finger head forms, stays for a while, then leaves spots of lacing as it recedes. Aroma is caramel, vanilla, alcohol, dried pears, and apples. Taste, initially, is moderate sweetness with caramelized sugar and dried fruit notes. On the finish there is a citrus hop flavor, rye spiciness, and alcohol. Full body, thick, chewy, sticky texture, soft carbonation in the mouth which is strange after the bubble show on the pour, and a finish that is initially abruptly bitter and has a warming boozy tail.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Batch 85. 1/8/14. Pours a beautiful ruby dark orange amber. Amazing, large frothy creamy tan head, fully lasting with thick lace. Seems very fresh. Very aromatic. Aroma is rich, malty and hoppy, as I the flavor. Fruity, super ripe citrus, bit of pine, sugar, caramel. Just a touch of alcohol. Fantastic balance. Complex but not complicated. Perfectly moderate bitterness and just sweet enough to balance. Creamy, luscious, and smooth. Exceptional, and doesn’t have to be ’huge’ to do it..
