COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is similar to Hair of the Dog's Ruth beer, but instead of hops, several varieties of squash are used. Available only at Higgins, a Portland restaurant.

Tap at HOTD. Stoked to finally stumble across this one, after years of (admittedly never bothering) not getting over to Higgins to try it. Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with very little head, no lace. Mild sweet cereal and soft gourd on the nose. Creamy medium body with minimal carb. Lightly toasted grain and soft gourd on the mid palate, very coherent and approachable. very light tannin on the finish.

Draft - Sweet butterscotch, caramel and some earth. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Sweet, a bit syrupy and a touch of earthy notes. The squash gives a very sweet earthy not that is interesting, but not really tasty.

Draft at HotD. Bright golden brown. Thin creamy foam. Creamy beer, mild earthiness, balanced sweet active body, great carbonation. Sweet finish. Lovely, but hard to describe.

[2/24/15] Draught at Hair of the Dog in Portland. Hazy golden. Aroma of malt, pumpkin and a fruity note. Sweet flavor with malt, pumpkin, caramel and a spicy note. Medium-bodied. Sweet and not very pleasant.

Gold pour. Fruity aroma, flavor of fruits and grapes. Weird, and not great.

Draft. No aroma. Little carbonation. Tastes like sugared corn mash. Maybe bad lines? Can’t imagine thus is as intended, but then again I’ve never tried a squash beer. Maybe it’s just a not-good idea.

On tap. A: Cloudy gold with a thin white head. N: Squash, peppercorn, leaves, biscuit, cracker, honey, lavender, T: Sweet and lightly bitter. M: Light body, crisp carbonation, no alcohol. O: Easy drinking and delicious beer. The squash shines through very well and this goes down so easily.

Have had 5-8 times in the past 8 years on tap in PDX and SEA. Hints of pils grass and butternut squash on the nose. Dry and not so bubbly dirt and grains on the palate blended with squashy goodness in the finish. Light but intriguing.

This is pretty damn cool for a small beer, and a hopeless one at that. Aroma and flavor are crisp...pilsner like but with a fruity squashy kick. So very easy to drink and good even among the big beers

Tap at brewery. Hazy light white yellow pour. Don’t know about squash but fruits and Chardonnay. Light body Easy to drink
