On tap at the tasting room. Only barrel created. Pity. A: Opaque orange tinted brown. Or brown tinted orange. Very thin lacing. A bit muddy, but..meh. N. Sugar. Belgian candi sugar and maple, specifically. Some hop bitterness/pineapple and mango. The bourbon’s less developed in the nose than in the body. T: No mistaking the barrels on this one. Maple syrup, vanilla, caramel. Some very noticeable tropical fruits. Lots of pineapple. This is pretty sweet, but not as much as I remember. The back has the hop bitterness to even this out. There’s definitely an alcohol kick. M: Bubbly and sticky sap. This fits really well with the beer and the maple. Like bourbon Fred 2012 this one nails it. O: Excellent. When I hear people rave about CBS, I assume this is what they really think they had.

Wonderful warm maple whisky nose...lovely worn saddle leather appearance. As described before the taste is a maple bar soaked in good Bourbon. Just a pleasure to drink and a true nipple rubber.

On tap at HOTD. Colour...deep, cloudy amber with no head. Nose...dates, caramel and maple soaked raisins. Palate...almost imperceptible CO2 then the flavours kick in with subtle Bourbon, booze soaked dark fruits with a focus on raisins, black currants and Medjool dates. Overall there’s a smooth, velvety mouthfeel that resounds with maple sweetness front the front to the back of the palate. Throughout the whole experience, th Bourbon remains subtle though not elusive. This is a delight for the palate!

Deep, funky brown-orange with lace. Huge bourbon nose, with vanilla, wood, maple, caramel. Wow. Super sweet toffee, vanilla, bourbon flavor with oak and alcohol. Very luscious. Cloying and super sweet but great. Silky soft body.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2012 Tap @ HotD... Poured deep, dark brown and a thin, grayish head. With a tilt of the glass more of an amber, orange tone as the liquid thined out. Nose had barrel, oak, bourbon and maple. Soft mouthfeel, low carbonation which was perfect for the complexity of this beer. Simply, this tasted like a maple bar doughnut that soaked up Bourbon Fred. But with a more thought out description Maple Bourbon Fred had loads of whiskey, oak, candied and dark sugars, Bourbon Pecan French Toast, and caramel notes that lent to a worty malt sweetness. The finish had most of the maple character with a warming alcohol tone.
