4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 magdalar (476) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - JAN 4, 2012
Bottle, 2010 vintage. Pours black with no real head. Smells of cherry, vanilla, smoke, wood, toffee, apple and brown sugar. All at the same exact time, intense. Tastes peaty and smokey, with a strong sweetness and very smooth toffee feel. Fantastic but compared to the Deliverance I just drank it could use refinement (but that’s tough to live up to).

Bottle at HOTD. $18. Pours to a super dark brown body with no head. The aroma is amazing. Like a really aged Adam with sweet calvados and vanilla laden oaky bourbon. The flavor is where this beer is perfect. Rich chocolate syrup like with delicious calvados and vanilla and oak laden bourbon. Masterfully blended. It is hard to describe how complex this is. The palate is rich and not alcoholic at all. Rich and creamy and full bodied. Not sugary sticky but has a residual sweetness. My girlfriend is angry at me because I’m introducing her to so many good beers she doesn’t want to drink the "swill" any more.

After several failed attempts at landing this beer I finally found someone that would throw me one. Thanks. Shared with others, this beer is still.
Served with Adam, Adam from the Wood, Cherry Adam from the Wood, Fred, Bourbon Fred, Doggie Claws ’05.
Beer is completely flat, brown, sweet aroma, dark, legs on the glass which is a Stone IRS glass for those keeping score.
Aroma is malt, bourbon, apples, sweet, oak.
Beer is medium in body, really sweet, strong, very dry, a little too dry for me, but the more I drink the more I like it. Strong, sweet, nice liquor backbone, leading up to a bitterness-less finish that leave the mouth dry. I would have liked a less dry finish but ultimately this was good.

Shared by Gkost, poured a dark deep brown, with aromas of oak, vanilla, dark fruits, burt caramel, chocolate, and bourbon. A lot of aromas going on, and the taste delivered just like the aromas promised.
4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 phredrik (887) - Aalborg, DENMARK - NOV 27, 2011
2010 bottle from a trade with Alen. Pours deep dark brown - totally opaque - with a small and quickly dissipating brown head. Aroma is strong and smooth. Luscious bourbon and vanilla, chocolate, dark fruits, burnt caramel, also lighter notes of red apples and red berries. Apples baked with cinnamon, leather, very subtle smoke and ashy note - also light tobacco and cherries. The apples provide a fresh and almost pungent edge to the otherwise very dark and overwhelming aroma. The aroma is absolutely marvelous! The taste is very sweet and overwhelming at first - lots of dark fruits, bourbon, vanilla, baked apples with cinnamon, leather, smoke, cherries, molasses. Everything about this beer is extremely well put together and the beer itself is magnificently balanced. What a way to celebrate the birth of Jesper’s son, Aksel or Aske or whatever he’s called ;-)

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2011 2010 bottle. From 5000, thanks! Quite a bit of bourbon in the aroma that’s joined by raisin, toffee, and plum. Smells a little like Angels’s Share. Deep brown color with no head (looks like Angel’s Share too...). This beer is undercarbed but there’s some nice flavor with good depth. Roasty chocolate, smoked wood, and dates are added to the bourbon, toffee, and raisin. Fairly heavy on the bourbon but still lots else going on. This is a very good beer but falls short of world class in my opinion. Might be something a little more carbonation could fix

Bottle: The aroma consists of coconut, chocolate, maple syrup, light apple, and alcohol. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and an almost nonexistent beige head...really just a few sporadic bubbles around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. There are some apple notes in the background. The finish has notes if coconut, light maple syrup, and faint bourbon. Full bodied with miminal carbonation and a somewhat syrupy mouthfeel. Overall, an outstanding barrel aged beer and incredibly smooth considering the ABV.
