2012 vintage drunk on 11/22/13. A nice Flanders Red but didn’t blow me away like I had hoped it would. Has a typical Brett nose but lacks strong sour notes. The flavor also lacks in the sour department but does have noticeable barrel aged oakiness to it that isn’t overwhelming. Overall a pleasant wild but not a sour that can be compared to their neighbors at Cascade.

poured an orange brown in color with a covering of white foam. aroma has barrel wood, medium funkiness, cherry, some acidity, and an interesting sweet fruity/citrus thing. mouth feel is light and the carbonation is real light. flavor gets a bit more acidity going, brett, sherry, oak, vanilla, cherry, and a dry citrus rind. lots of yeasty stuff going on but the barrel medley keeps pace.

2009 vintage bottle from the brewery. Pours a blood orange color with a short patch head. Really light aroma with slightly sour cherry. Slightly tart flavor with a really woody, slightly dry finish. Good stuff.

12oz bottle from 2012 to snifter. Aroma of tart oakiness. Creamy mouthfeel. Plenty of head with good retention. Tart flavor with lots of oak and cherry.

Poured from bottle to glass. Copper hue with no head. Aroma is toffee, oak, cherry, sugar. Mouthfeel is decent with a full body and no head. Taste is sweet with a tart following. Overall this is a decent beer but is still.

Bottle to snifter (2012 vintage). Looks good; a very cloudy amber with thin lacing that is a very light caramel. Smells good too; vinous, oaky, and mildly tart with a bit of funk. Some cherry too. Tastes like it smells, but more malty than vinous. A light candied presence. Solid on the palate with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable, but smells better than it tastes.

Bottle, shared by TvM at game night. Two epic American Flanders style in one night! This one followed Deschutes Planete Rouge, and I must say that this brew was the runner-up, although still distinctly excellent. Lovely rich sweet malt character married to gentle lactic sourness, sherry notes are here along with subtle oak. Very nicely done, perhaps a bit mellow with respect yo sourness.

Light vinegar aroma. Crisp body, gentle acetic sourness, not too tart but enough to round out the taste.

Bottle: Thanks, Chris. Murky copper-ish pour, not as red as assumed with only mild translucency at the edges. A small, gray-tinted head bubbles up softly & settles as a weak collar. Slight sourness in the aroma; lactobacillus with mildly tart cherry skins, lactic acid, a big bout of vinegar, & a very small vinous character towards the back-end. A good bit of wet oak throughout, as well. Less sour on the palate than the nose. Notes of Red Delicious apples, cherries, & tart grapes. Vinous & a little booze in a wine-like sort of way; warming, but mellow. Plenty of oak, slightly tannic with a finish of cherry, grape, & lightly acetic lemon-y notes. Creamy mouth feel, kind of unexpected there. A good beer, but I expected just a little more, given the brewer’s pedigree.

Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a cloudy copper with no head. The aroma is strong oak, cherry skin, funk. Thin mouth with strong oak, light sourness, good.

"A wonderful soft, fruity sour. 2012 bottle smells of oak, funk and leather. Quite wine like in the flavor, and a nice balance between sweet, sour, tannic...just good stuff."
