This special release was brewed on July 12th and bottled on September 8th, 2005. I used locally grown black currants to give this beer an intense berry flavor. Made with love, reverance and respect for the great beers of Belgium.

Thanks to mday for opening this bottle. Served in a snifter. Pours near purple and it is quite cloudy. No real head or lacing. Maybe a bubble or two on top. The nose is a bit herbal and fruity with a bit of the fruit coming through. The taste is slightly sweet with a bit of an astringency. The fruit doesnít really come through. The finish is really quite dry on a fairly-light body for what it is. Slight vitamin character on the finish. Overall, decent enough but Iím guessing this has seen better days. 12 oz. bottle for $15 at the brewery. This was a nice surprise. This had a turbid purplish color. The head faded away quickly. This had a nice Belgian Tripel aroma that is quickly masked by the black currant aroma. It has a slightly tart/sour aroma that mixes very well with the aforementioned aromas. The beer has a nice black currant flavor, that is subtly complimented by a sweet Belgian Tripel flavor. Towards the very end you get a nice tart/sour finish that rounds the beer out quite well. This beer had a little carbonation in it, but it was just the right amount. We had this with "Pasta White" made by Alan, and both the beer and the pasta were great; they complimented each other quite well. Very nice beer, and Iím definitely happy that I was able to try this.

í05 bottle from HOTD. Dark raisin colored pour with a creamy eggshell head. Aroma is yeast, candy sugar, honey and dark fruit. Flavor shows lots of prune and raisin along with caramel, biscuit, and even tart cherry skin. The alcohol isnít forward anymore. Pretty good.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of black currant, Belgian yeast, and some cream. Poured a muddy purple/brown in color with a large, creamy, dense, tan/purple-hued head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Lightly sparkling. Full of small and medium-sized particles throughout. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malt, black currant, sugar, berries, Belgian yeast, and a hint of rose petals. Medium to full body. Slightly dry texture. Soft carbonation. Belgian yeast, black currant, malt, and cream finish is slightly dry. 8%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

3rd cassis in 5 days. This aged bottle had vegatable flavour in it. Poured very cloudy fruit mixture, with Caesar head. Emits a refreshing fruit, with grapefruit notes. The mouthfeel is creamy with an acidic element. Outside of the veggie aspect, there is a mostly green grape and raisin flavour.

(Sample Date: 8/1/2009 Source:Other) Bottle courtesy of Dkatchur. Fruity black current nose with some alcohol heat. Very murky brownish red. Dark raisin fruit flavor. Full body with acidic mouth feel. Hefty alcohol punch.

Bottle bonused by Weibull. I wanted this to be epic but it was merely great. I will take it. Nose is tart, full black currants and that distinctive, glossy HotD yeast/malt character. Color is a great purple-brown. Flavor is of a well-crafted US tripel, slightly soured with time and bacteria. Oxidation and the currants offset this change, creating what could well be described as a fruit lambic taste minus Brett, lacto and European wood. Quite something.

A truly unique looking beer. Reddish with white cloudiness. Tart cherries dominate both aroma and flavor. Somehow the flavor is as cloudy as the appearance. Unique but not great.

2005 bottle generously shared by bhensonb. This murky brown beer poured with no head at all and a currant aroma. There is a fruity malty flavor that is funked up in a good way. There is an oak sensation left on the palate.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Bottled in 2005. Pours a murky chocolate color with a light rim of bubbles. Berry aroma. Rather full in body with slight carbonation. Lots of oak. Astringent. Very fruity in a sour way. A good sour ale with lots of darkish berry. I like it.
