COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This special release was brewed on July 12th and bottled on September 8th, 2005. I used locally grown black currants to give this beer an intense berry flavor. Made with love, reverance and respect for the great beers of Belgium.

Bottle pours cloudy mud brown with a thin lighlty lacing head. Aromas are mostly sour berries with hints of sweetness. Taste is bitter and sour, currants are apparent with sour cherries.

12oz bottle with thanks to SamuraiArtist & msubulldog25, who each sent me some. Pours an unappetizing murky orange/rust with a faint wisp of a head. Taste was berry-fruitiness, raisins and malt sweetness. Tangy with a somewhat heavy/sugary mouthfeel. The bottle seems to have aged better than a lot of the other reviews I have read.

12 oz bottle. Muddy brown with a thin ring of beige foam. Nose is butterscotch, alcohol and raspberry. Medium light with a tang. Taste is yeast and elderberry. Raw bitter and sour notes as the fruitiness fades away. An interesting brew likely better fresh.

From a 12oz Bottle. Also sampled on tap at the brewpub. Pours the color of pink lemonade, topped with a tight bubbled head of creamy pink. One of the most interesting beers I’ve sampled, appearance wise. Completely opaque, saturated with pink currant pectins. Fruity currants in the nose, creamy with a touch of herbal pepper. Touches of vanilla and toffee malt, but mostly just creamy currant. Currant Italian Soda. Hints of mild acidic funk, presumably from the currant skins. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel with a milky texture. Big berry flavor with a very mild acidity and tannic skin quality. Highly unusual texture and color, but the flavors are quite enjoyable. Yogurt-like is an awesome description, as is the waxy texture (thanks, notalush). This rating is a composite from bottles I’ve sampled along with drafts at the brewery. I have to admit that I’ve had a truly awful bottle of this beer - reeking of rotten fruit - but the draft and other bottles I’ve had have all been one of the most unique, intriguing, and enjoyable fruit beers I’ve ever tried. I love currants. Rating doesn’t consider the bad bottle I’ve had.

From bottle at HOTD dinner at Collins Pub. Very cloudy brown. Lots of dark berry in the aroma and taste. There was a bit of a floral aspect to the taste. Fairly strong alcohol burn. Extremely dry finish. Paired very well with the roasted duck stew with vegetable, lentils and fresh currants.

12oz bottle from SamuraiArtist. This is an interesting beer. I declare this is the murkiest fruit beer EVER!. Looks like the dregs of a freshly pressed black currant juice. Looks like reddish purple dirt; no head and just a bit of lacing. Aroma is alcohol, chocolate, and very muted fruit-berries. Taste is similar with light chocolate and light berries. It seems like they took a lot of berries, than a whole lot of malt, and made the berries seem less berry like. It came out weird but interesting weird and fun.

Shared by beastiefan2k (thanks, Eugene!) - very hazy pink beer - you can’t even see through it, it’s so cloudy - aroma of semi-rotting berry skins and a bacteria/yogurt culture quality - slightly acidic, with flavors of berry, yogurt/dairy, and various fruit skins - a mild oak character settles in late, as does a bizarre waxy flavor - bacterial qualities throughout - interesting, but not in an entirely good way.

12oz bottle. Poured a deep and cloudy amberish color with a small sized white head. Aromas of caramel, currants, and berries. Tastes of the same. I’m not overly familiar with currants, but I enjoyed this one!

Sample provided by kmweaver. Murky, muddy, light brown body with a tiny beige head. The nose is currants, toffee and raisins. The flavor is lightly sweet with toffee, currants, figs and cherries. Medium/full body is soft with light carbonation and a slightly warm finish.
