COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Special pour from a bottle at Hair of the Dog Anniversary party. Hazy orange with a good pale head. Aroma is honey, apricot, peach, roses, candi sugar. Creamy mouthfeel, medium-full body, sweet and fruity on the palate. Taste is candi sugar, apricot, candy apple, peach, pear. Like liquid candi sugar. Wow

Golden Rose Batch 12. Thanks, Joe. Light fruit and spice to the nose. A bit of oxidation. Light-medium body and fairly dry. Lacking complexity and showing its age.

Shared by BucketBoy. Thanks Joe. Golden Rose Batch 12 The beer is murky, rust orange with no head. The aroma brings some oxidation, well water, earth, mineral. Smooth feel. Very low carbonation. Earthy, mineral water, basement funk. This beer tastes old. Watery mouthfeel. Fun to try, but this is past its prime.

Batch #35 from my cellar. Pours clear dark amber with a thin off-white head. Sweet candy malt aroma. A bit of alcohol when it’s first poured that dissipates quickly. Sweet and smooth flavor with a peppery finish. Smooth and full bodied. Holding up well.

Hazy reddish amber beer with a tiny white head. Dry palate. Sweetish hibiscus, fairly fruity but with a dry something going on as well. Pinch of pepper in the finish. Interesting beer, could be great if it wasn’t so dry.

Picked up from the cellar of Bottleworks. I guess I’m the only one drinking mine, everyone else is trying to trade it lol. Batch 34. Pours a barleywine copper with a minimal head and quite a bit of yeast sediment. Smell is huge caramel and toffee, slight bit of alcohol and creme brule. Taste is creamy and sweet, sugar, caramel, a bit of fruit and Belgium yeast. A bit bready on the finish. Fantastic, I don’t think it’s past prime at all.

355ml bottle @ Ølbaren, Copenhagen

Batch 41 - Pours murky reddish brown with a tiny bubbly head. Aroma of ripe fruits, malts and cellar notes. Taste is malty and yeasty with tart ripe fruits and slight sourness. Next to no carbonation, fruity and berry finish. A bit unbalanced, perhaps has seen its best days.
