COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

On tap at the Muddy Pig. A full pint of this redheaded beauty! My what a smooth, fine beer. Perfectly sweet and smooth, light fruit. Enjoyed it the same way I enjoy Abbaye des Rocs Brune. A great pre-Autumnal sipper.

[Bottle, January 2007] Pours leather brown with quickly dissipating head. Aroma is floral and slight fruit. Taste is flowery with a lot more banana than is evident in the aroma. Finish is heavily banana with slight rose petals. Mouthfeel is nice. Flavors may not be my thing but they distract from the alcohol nicely.

Batch 38. A beautifully golden ale, though quite cloudy, with a fine white head. Sweet aroma, like raisins. The taste and mouthfeel are spot-on for a Belgian tripel, but much "fresher" tasting than I’m used to-- probably due to the fact that it’s domestically-made. Most of the Belgian stuff I can get my hands on has been sitting around for who knows how long... Nice flavor-- sweet, honey-like, with some caramel and raisins, and a fitting hop bitterness at the end to round it all out. No detectable alcohol desipte the high gravity. I like this one.

[Batch #35] A very enjoyable Belgian styled triple that pours with an very rich golden hue and a thick frothy white head. Head rises to about 1" before giving way to a mellow surface coat with reasonable lacing on the glass. Brew carries a moderate amount of sediment A little sharp on the taste and aroma but has a very enjoyable and very long aftertaste that carries its hoppy emphasis. The hints of honey malts come through, but don’t get flattened like so many brews that try to blend out the offering with sugary malts. For once, this honey malt helps keep the harshness of the hops off their peak, but blend incredibly well under the bottle conditioned environment making for quite an enjoyable ale.

Batch #34 For the appearance its was a little cloudy but really nice coloring. The flavor was very impressive for a sweeter ale, but a tad overpowering at the end.

pours slightly frothy golden. aroma offers hints of caramel, malt and grass. matliness, with classic belgium flavors... nicely carbonated, tingly on the tongue. finish has slight sitrus notes and notes of toffee and malt. not at all overly yeasty. very well balanced on all levels. well done.

Very nice pour, huge head that stuck around for about half of the time I drank it. Very yeasty, had a nice alcohol warm to it and some sweetness to it too. Yeast floated around in the glass and settled at the bottom, that was gross, had to swish it around quite a few times.
