Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Hard to really rate this.. Only had a very small sample, but I don't think I could do a whole pint. This was fruity, thick on the palate, sweetish, and with quite an alcohol kick. I'll stick to Ruination...

12 oz. bottle. Labeled as Golden Rose with a batch number of 9 on the label. This is one old ass bottle!! When was batch 9? Got in a trade awhile back. Aroma is fruity yeast and candy sugar.

Flavor has some cardboard but is real drinkable. Fruit is here with hints of yeast and traces of cardboard dipped in honey. Mouthfeel is light and syrupy. Sugar traces.

Really itís amazing how well this held up over time. Kind of impressive.

Thanks Chris L for this treat. The bottle looks VERY old. Label says "Golden Rose" Batch 009

A - Looks like flat cream soda. Crimson and gold.

S - Nose is slightly oxidized, floral and lots of herbs with caramel and candy.

T - A mild tart taste, bits of cardboard and leather shoe. Very floral, lots of vanilla and red berries. Slightly peppery and dry finish.

M - Thin, oily and sweet

O - This has held up extremely well!

Special pour from a bottle at Hair of the Dog Anniversary party. Hazy orange with a good pale head. Aroma is honey, apricot, peach, roses, candi sugar. Creamy mouthfeel, medium-full body, sweet and fruity on the palate. Taste is candi sugar, apricot, candy apple, peach, pear. Like liquid candi sugar. Wow

Golden Rose Batch 12. Thanks, Joe. Light fruit and spice to the nose. A bit of oxidation. Light-medium body and fairly dry. Lacking complexity and showing its age.

Shared by BucketBoy. Thanks Joe. Golden Rose Batch 12 The beer is murky, rust orange with no head. The aroma brings some oxidation, well water, earth, mineral. Smooth feel. Very low carbonation. Earthy, mineral water, basement funk. This beer tastes old. Watery mouthfeel. Fun to try, but this is past its prime.

Batch #35 from my cellar. Pours clear dark amber with a thin off-white head. Sweet candy malt aroma. A bit of alcohol when itís first poured that dissipates quickly. Sweet and smooth flavor with a peppery finish. Smooth and full bodied. Holding up well.

Hazy reddish amber beer with a tiny white head. Dry palate. Sweetish hibiscus, fairly fruity but with a dry something going on as well. Pinch of pepper in the finish. Interesting beer, could be great if it wasnít so dry.

Picked up from the cellar of Bottleworks. I guess Iím the only one drinking mine, everyone else is trying to trade it lol. Batch 34. Pours a barleywine copper with a minimal head and quite a bit of yeast sediment. Smell is huge caramel and toffee, slight bit of alcohol and creme brule. Taste is creamy and sweet, sugar, caramel, a bit of fruit and Belgium yeast. A bit bready on the finish. Fantastic, I donít think itís past prime at all.
