Ibrew2or3 (1571), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA May 4, 2008 12 oz bottle (batch 41) pours deep copperish orange with a rose hue. It has an off white head. I’m getting an impressive complex aroma with notes of sugar coated raspberries and strawberries along with an earthy – grainy mixture that almost smells of wood. I get more notes of such things as assorted spices, yeast and just other notes I can’t discern. The taste has a load of berry fruitiness and spice. I get sweet raspberry and strawberry along with bay leaves and hibiscus flowers (as noted on the label). There’s a layer of malt sweetness running with the myriad of other notes as well as mild berry fruit tartness. Nice enjoyable mix of flavors.
gunnfryd (2651), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 30, 2008 Bottle. Coppar colour with an off-white head. Aroma is alcohol, yeast, caramel, peppar. Flavour is sweet, alcohol, yeast, caramel, flower, pepper. Strange beer, but still a nice one. yngwie (3322), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 29, 2008 Bottle. It pours a clear, copper body with a small, off-white head. Sweetish, flowery nose with caramel and nuts, notes of roasted malt and a touch of alcohol. Sweet and sugary in the mouth, with caramel, some alcohol and pepper and Brazilian pepper. Medium to full body, rather sweetish and a bit biting mouthfeel. Lasting sweet and peppery finish. The flavor grows better and better as you drink it, and it’s one of the strangest tripels I’ve had. But nice! (080509) plovmand (370), Helsinge, Denmark Jun 29, 2008 Cant really see why this beer is scaled as a tripel besides what the label says.
From the bottle pours a hazy reddish beer with a medium white head. Very earthy and dusty nose from the beets and a spicy crisp from the rose pepper with some malt and hops. Flavour is spicy but the beets is from sure there too. Its pretty weird but in some way I like it very much. aubreya (636), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA May 27, 2008 The color was hazy brown/orange. The head was creamy, off-white, and thin. The aroma was grassy, some hops, and sweet. The flavor was grass, dirt, hops, and sweet. The palate was average. The finish was tart. emacgee (936), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA May 27, 2008 Thanks to bmartin for this. Batch 41 bottle. I’ll give it a thumbs up for an interesting appearance. Ruddy red, murky. One finger frothy earthy brown head. The nose is a bit sweet, a little alcohol, earthy, weird, I guess its the beets (?). The flavor is weird, alcohol is unpleasant, earthy, a bit sweet and medicinal, not a huge fan. The mouthfeel is average and it finishes warm and spicy.
