3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
As I recall, Ruth’s a small beer of Fred, though if that’s wrong--well, you heard it on the internet. I am pretty certain it was named for (brewer) Doug Sprints’s grandmother. In any case, it’s a wonderful session ale. Perfectly unassuming, yet it has a funky yeast quality that seems Belgian, though the brewery claims it’s Wyeast Scottish, so go figyah. Dry and lip-smacking. A HoTD when you can’t quite DO a HoTD. Or maybe a summer HoTD. Oh, I found it in the saison category, which is absurd.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewpub - Pours golden orange with a bit of haze and a white head. The aroma has toast, creamy malt and some earthy hops. It has a medium smooth body with a bit of a bit and fairly soft carbonation. The flavor starts off with earthiness, toasty dry bread and orange zest. The finish adds earthiness and pine. Really nice APA.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
bottle to snifter. pours a very pale yellow color with no head. nose is lightly grassy with a touch of dankiness. taste is initially sweet and then reveals a bit of bitterness and a very grassy hop flavor. not much malt character, just a little note of honey. I don’t think I care for the hops profile. very lingering and unpleasant. Just doesn’t do it for me.
