3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
As I recall, Ruth’s a small beer of Fred, though if that’s wrong--well, you heard it on the internet. I am pretty certain it was named for (brewer) Doug Sprints’s grandmother. In any case, it’s a wonderful session ale. Perfectly unassuming, yet it has a funky yeast quality that seems Belgian, though the brewery claims it’s Wyeast Scottish, so go figyah. Dry and lip-smacking. A HoTD when you can’t quite DO a HoTD. Or maybe a summer HoTD. Oh, I found it in the saison category, which is absurd.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
At the HofD brewery in Portland-USA. Tap. Hazy dark gold color, off-white head with retention. Nose: the best combination of malts and hops ever. Sweet resin in a medium Amber scented maltiness. Great. Mouth: little carbo, bitterness is balanced and that mild sweet HotD signature.

Draft. Aroma of big pulpy orange and some melon. Cloudy old gold with no lace or head. Flavors follow nose with water cracker and a faint hint of butterscotch. Dry finish. Tremendous. Near-world-class.
