Aroma is vaguely smokey malt. Touch of cocoa/chocolate perhaps? Average beer, touch light in the palate especially for a stout. Flavour is fairly dry, with muted roast and the unescapable ghost of dark chocolate or cocoa. Surprisingly tasty. blank (998), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 6, 2005 has tio be the lightest colored stout i’ve ever seen. Would of scored poorly for a porter. Saying that the flavor was much better. A very strange malt flavor was dominate. Much better then it could of been.

Hmm, reminds me of Sheaf Stout, only thinner with more coffee taste. It’s okay, but nothing special.

pours like thin coffee. You can see all through the edges. Cola colored. Short head. Indistinct, didn’t stay around much.
stubby little bottle is cool.
pretty simple nose; burnt malts, caramel malts.
It runs a little smokey, and pleasantly bittersweet. A little fruity, a bit of grass comes through. This is thin, but very drinkable. Exceedingly delicious with Ethiopian foods. Doesn’t overpower any of the delicately spiced legumes, but stands up to the chiles, and the wonderful collard greens. Yeah, it’s kinda thin, and not very complicated, but it sure goes down easily. It’s totally enjoyable with the meal.

| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Oct 23, 2004 Dark amber coloured body with a thick brown head. Aroma of caramel, malt, toffee, blood and raisins. Medium-bodied; Bad blood/metal taste up front with some malt-generally bad, with the taste turning to licorice at the end. Aftertaste bland, not horrible. Overall, bad-but interesting. A great beer to try, and thanks to Jon for letting me try this one! I sampled this pint on draught at RFD in Washington, D.C. on 20-June-2004 with JonR888710 & Haddon90. cfranz (261), Acton, Massachusetts, USA

I believe that a beer’s enjoyment level is directly influenced by the context and environment. This stout was pretty sweet, which complemented the spicy Ethiopian food. It was caramelly and dark, with a mollasses and anise kick. It poured dark and rich, with a nice off-white head. muthus (1), India does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2004 A nice caramel stout. A little too caramelly, and sweet. Has some hints of a cofee. You will like this beer if you like a caramel flavored beer. haddon90 (1035), Alexandria, Virginia, USA

Shared this with JonR88710 at RFD in Washington, D.C. Brown looking body with a cream colored head. Caramel, coffee, and some malt in the aroma. Interesting flavor. Some molasses, and a little bit of sweetness. Overall not too bad.
