Not too bad at all. Malty and chocolate scent, watery texture, somewhat of a bitter flavour.

A great hot weather stout, lighter in body than most, but still malty and flavorful. More of a mix between a dunkle and a briwn ale than a stout, Hakim is brewed by the Harar Brewery in Ethiopia. Pours dark chestnut brown with a thick tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, toffee. Lightly sweet with a long malty finish.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2011 25-Jul-2011- (Awash African Restaurant, Footscray) - Big sweet simple malt and light roast spirit fruit aroma. Good head and sheet lacing. Sweet lightly roasted malt. Light roasted steely thinish finish and sweet malt aftertaste with touch of pepper spice. Simplistic but still pleasant.

Bottle. Pours the color of a foamless IPA. Smells Like malt liquor. Taste is a littler richer, tangier, and smokier than expected. But still not great, and definitely not a stout...

clear brown, small offwhite head. Caramelly malty aroma. Flavor is malty, caramelly , bitter.

Good beer but more amber/brown ale than stout. However, this is a good thing in a hot environment I guess. Pleasantly sweet and malty.

Bottle @ Ulfborg Weekend, Jan 2011. Hazy brown of colour with a light brown head. An aroma of caramel, weak roasted and sweets. A flavour of sweets, weak roasted malt and prunes.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. Judging from the color, saying it’s a stout is pushing the limits. It’s dark amber to light brown, clear and with a small, off-white head. Toffee, coffee and a buttery touch on the nose, some dried fruits. Flavorwise it’s much the same, roasted malts, toffee and dried fruits with a tiny buttery touch. A quite nice one, definitely nothing I’d expect from Ethiopia. 110129
