Wulfstan (509), California, USA Apr 18, 2008 This is smooth and pleasant. It’s very dark red brown, very faintly hazy, with a smallish tan head that steadily shrinks to a lasting foamy ring leaving only the merest hint of lace. The aroma is quite light, mostly malty-yeasty dough and fruit stewed in wine. The taste is primarily fruit - esp. prunes - caramelized and stwed with wine leaving a sweet-sour quality, a hint of caramel and the faintest hint of chocolate. It’s pleasant, light, smooth, and b it different. asedzie (453), San Francisco, California, USA Mar 24, 2008 Bottle. Pours hazy brown with thin beige head. Aroma is sweet, syrupy caramel, light doughiness. Flavor is mildly sweet toffee, some damp, basement flavors, slightly unclean notes in the background. Slight tart/bitter fruity flavors in the finish. Slightly watery palate. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Feb 19, 2008 Bottle @ Local Ethiopian place. Pours orange with a tan ring, yeah the pours is pretty much not at all as it should be. The nose is weird and tastes like honey. Taste is malty and sweet and overall it could be worse, it tastes much better than it looks. daniellerose7 (119), new york, New York, USA Jan 3, 2008 Updated: Jan 4, 2008Not as yum-yum as the Harar, but it is a darker alternative that keeps its light body and texture for accompanying a gi-normous elephantine feast of Ethiopian delights, which is really this beer’s only purpose. Seriously. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Nov 26, 2007 Small Bottle - Gravity Room - Olympia WA.
Aroma – Deep malt aroma with some fruity esthers.
Appearance – Deep dark color with a thin head. Somewhat clear
Flavor – Deep dark malt flavors this was a good dark beer but as for a stout it missed the boat. had some weak stout like qulaities.
Palate – Was wtery and finished dry with very little life . I am sure fresh brew might be better.
Overall –Had to try it but what a waste of money in my opinion. Someone needs to taste this before they bring it to the stores.

I had this at an Ethiopian Restaurant tonight. Light, watery stout, but with some decent flavor. Easy to drink, but very uneventful. I was exactly expecting great things from an Ethiopian beer though. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 18, 2007 Bottle (labeled as 5.5%). Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, molasses, malt syrup, husks). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Syrupy-malty with virtually no roast...there’s not much stouty about this, more like a crude brown ale or something.
