MrWalker (927), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 18, 2006 Bottle @ OMH-tasting Flowery aroma with a touch of rotten vegetables. Sweet and sour without any hint of bitterness. Thin aftertaste and slightly oxidised. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jan 25, 2006 Dark red body with a thin tan quick fading head. Aroma of molasses and some coffee. Flavour was burnt tasting without any really dryness due to how sweet it was. Like a burnt creme brule top. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jan 19, 2006 Single bottle at Kensington Wine. Very dark copper with a decent head and some lacing. Strong coffee, chocolate and burnt sugar aroma with a sour edge. Reminds of a bock or other weak German lager rather than any stout. Drinkable. Flavour is cold sweet strong tea/coffee hybrid. hokiebeerguy (21), USA Sep 15, 2005 Ok...they really shouldn’t call this a stout if based on taste. It should have a disclaimer saying...if you love stouts and looking for that flavor, you’ll hate this beer. HOWEVER, if you go into the tasting knowing that this will not taste like a traditional stout, you may like it. It was watery and very very sweet, with hints of fruit, and malt, which was quite enjoyable. Somewhat more like a thin barley wine or scothish ale. Anyway, go in with an open mind, and you may like it. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Aug 6, 2005 Sampled at the Lynnwood International Swill Fest. 330ml bottle. Deep reddish brown color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is roasted malt and hairspray. A light bodied foreign stout. Malts are colaish and sweet. Licorice, cardboard, and sweet. It would be cloying if it weren’t so thin. This is really horrid. Its amazing how bad a stout can be when it goes wrong. Mouthfeel is watery and thin. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is bitter. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Aug 5, 2005 The color was a dark brown but with considerable light passing through. Roasty, toasted oat and wheat nose with a bit of charred malt and smoke. Best described as that common foriegn stout quality. Tasted the same, with a medium-thick body and some really nice crusty, oat and charred malt flavors in the finish. I was impressed with this beer from Ethiopia. DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Aug 1, 2005 This beer comes courtesy of my own sheer stupidity for wanting try a beer from Ethiopia...the next time I have a stroke of genius like this, slap me. This beer pours a ruby red/magenta color with a thin off-white head and relatively good lacing. Then everything went to hell in a handbag. The aroma was that of roasted barley and plastic. Highly intolerable wet cardboard in there as well. The flavor is very light bodied for a stout and reminded me a lot of the awful Quake Chocolate Cream Ale. Coca-Cola qualities with chocolate, grape and black licorice notes in the finish. It also tastes like horrid wet cardboard. A bit of a cloying finish, though it was sort of amazing given the body was so thin...syrup like stickiness, yet nothing to this beer. Its as if they took the recipe for Coca-Cola and added barley to it, then dunked it in water with a piece of cardboard floating around in it for hours. Drain.... pour! From the Harar brewery...absolutely Hararble! mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 6, 2005 brown colour. aroma of chocolate, cola. nuts and malt. flavour is super sweet and a little nutty. faint hint of roast, mouthfeel and carbo are light. mildly tart finish.
