Light bodied and roasty with somewhat syrupy mouthfeel and lightly salty finish. An interesting beer, but a stout only by the name. Oakes (8081), gone rambling, Vietnam
| 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | May 30, 2002 Dark brown colour. I’m not encouraged by the wet paper smell. Vaguely caramelly malts, thin body, plasticy finish. Where’s the roast at? Not much for a foreign stout either, more like a dark lager. argo0 (6891), Washington DC, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2005 The color was a dark brown but with considerable light passing through. Roasty, toasted oat and wheat nose with a bit of charred malt and smoke. Best described as that common foriegn stout quality. Tasted the same, with a medium-thick body and some really nice crusty, oat and charred malt flavors in the finish. I was impressed with this beer from Ethiopia. Bits of caramel and brown sugar as well. Interesting flavors of brown sugar and caramel. Toasted grain and some floral hops as well. A heavy amber. BückDich (4832), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Bottle: Amber color, no head or lacing. The nose is very caramelly and diacetyl...y. The flavor is metallic and sweet with plum, no roast nor coffee nor cocoa, some funky hop and rotten fruit blend into a formitable negative barrier. Thin body and mouthfeel with a very untasty finish. Needs more stout and less Worthers original. Easily the most kick ass beer in Ethiopia unfortunately by the looks of things.
